I usually buy OEM carb kits. I avoid aftermarket kits because there's always something wrong with them. The kohler kit was over $100 so I took a chance. As usual, parts missing. This time it was the top cover gasket clearly shown in the pic above. I had to carefully clean and reinstall the old swollen gasket. This isn't my mower and now I'm sending it out with a half done carburetor. Don't waste your time or money on these garbage kits.

If you're looking to replace the float and gaskets, this kit is good. The flat rubber diaphragm gasket is wrong. (Too small) and none of these kits ever have the correct jets. Considering small engine shops are getting $80+ for the same kit in OE wrapping, this is a useful purchase to get you going. Clean and keep your OE jets and don't break/rip the OE diaphragm.

Compared to OEM prices($90), this was a great buy. All parts fit the Keihin carb and so far are working with no issues. The problem turned out to be just some dirt in the carb but I replaced all the parts anyway with the exception of the idle mixture screw. Original was stainless and replacement brass. Judgement call there. The float and needle went in perfectly and needed no adjustment at all. Level was correct without adjusting the tang. Gaskets and o-rings all fit. Twenty minutes and back to mowing.
