This item is sold as a part with a 1/2" ID (inside diameter) but is not. It is smaller and will not fit over a 1/2" diameter copper tube or any !/2" tube for that matter. It is more like 1/2" OD ( outside diameter). If you need this item for a compression water shut off valve used to fit over a 1/2" copper water pipe, do not order because it will not fit!
