Like you, probably, I started out doing exclusively cross stitch. Then I expanded to hardanger, hemstitching, surface embroidery. But no needlepoint and no quilting. But now I'm really into blackwork and these patterns are PERFECT for designing such pieces. It's probably fine for the title techniques as well...I'm not a good judge...but what you may really enjoy is the fold-out patterns stuck in a pocket inside the back cover of the book. 4 of them, pretty good sized. Of course, as almost all the needlework books of the 1970's, there's a dearth of color photos. But these designs are clean and bright. I suggest you look at it.
