I honestly wasn’t sure at first. The boa adjustment was different compared to what I’ve used in the past. Rotate to tighten and pull up one time to fully loosen. After 3 weeks I like the adjustment design. Great support for clip-less riding and a great shoe if you need to hike-a-bike on a section of trail (does not contact the cleat) at all.

This is the best bike shoe i have found since Keen stopped making a bike shoe. It offers super support and the hard sole is just what i need for my neuropathy.

You have to love how Amazon want's a product review that you just received 16 days ago, that being said these have been great so far. I've had other Pearl Uzumi shoes but weren't the Boa Sys. The fear of not getting the shoe tight enough with the boa sys. is not there. Always had the ratchet strap before. Longevity,we will see. The color is the grey, black would be better, it shows the dirt or whatever is on the shoe. Wet paper towel cleans that.

These are nice comfortable shoes with a reasonably wide toe box. Good on all day / long rides with no issues. I lived in them for a week on RAGBRAI and had zero issues.A minor gripe is that the BOA system only tightens and there's no way to incrementally loosen which I think some other shoes are able to do. It's not a deal breaker by any means, but it is annoying on occasion.

Update: you'll note in my original review I didn't care for the stiff vinyl tongue. Well after a long ride on a hot day I came back with a small blister on the front of my ankle. If you wear high socks this might not be an issue, but for me it was the last straw. Sending them back. A small blister may not seem like much until you have the shoe tongue digging into it 70 times a second for 2 hours.When I first tried these on I was ready to send them back. Why would Pearl construct the shoe tongue using a stiff vinyl/plastic material? Especially when the tongue is high enough to dig into my bare ankle (I usually ride in low socks). I decided to take them for a test ride before I gave up on them, especially since I loved, and wore out, my last set of Pearl bike shoes. Well, after several rides I'm happy to report that the stiff plastic does not bother me much if at all - but still don't like the construction of the tongue. Otherwise I kinda like the shoes. I have noticed they get a little warm on hot rides. If they start giving me "hot foot" I'll update the review. I really like the BOA lacing system. The shoes are easy to slip on and crank tight, plus if need be I can adjust them on the fly while riding. Sizing was fine for me. I usually run between a size 9.5 and 10, and the size 44 I ordered fits well

I am a 5'9", 65yr old,172lb male. I use cycling for fitness along with running, weight lifting and kayaking. I have run and cycled for over 50yrs. I have used Pearl Izumi products for a number of years due to their overall fit, consistent performance and durability. The X-Alp Summits are no exception. I have worn them on several rides over the last month that I have been very pleased with. I particularly like the BOA closure system both because of ease of use and the even distribution of force across the top of my feet. Also walking off bike is excellent and doesn't mare our hardwood floors. Shipping was efficient with no negative occurrences.

These shoes are quiet comfortable and stylish. Plenty of stiffness yet pliable enough for walking.
