This Peerless valve fit my older Delta branded shower unit. I guess Delta bought Peerless at some point and just rebranded them but kept the old design. Was really difficult to find on the Delta website, but finally matched it directly with a picture of the valve.

Ordered this valve assembly to replace one that froze and cracked last winter. The picture shows both parts of the pressure balance cartridge. I assumed that the pictured assembly was what I was getting. That is why I ordered this part. I only received the pressure balance cartridge and not the check valve, which is shown in the picture. If I had know this, I would have tried to order both parts. As luck would have it, the other part that I did not receive, did not suffer from freezing and works with the part I did receive.Other than that, the part came expeditiously and all works fine.

We were lucky and the only thing that broke during the Great Texas Freeze of 2021 was an outdoor shower by the pool. The shower head was dripping water when we emerged from our hibernation and after opening up the handle, we could see a crack down the center of the cartridge. All other seals were fine!I wish this was available locally, but it turns out that Amazon got it to me the next day! I ordered on Saturday afternoon and received it on Sunday even though they estimated it would arrive on Thursday!I dropped everything to get it in (we're expecting rain) and the install couldn't have been easier. This was from Peerless and shipped/sold via Amazon. It did come with the anti-scald ring on it and all I had to do was unscrew the handle mount from the old one and put it onto the new one.Inserted it, replaced all the hardware, turned on the water, and it was perfect! No drips, perfect control. I proceeded to caulk around the faceplate and I was ready for a drink =)

I ordered one of these RP70538 cartridges. The cartridge is made of plastic has an upper and lower part that should be snapped together at the factory. On mine, one snap was not latched. I tried to make it latch by pushing the two sections together by hand, but they would it would not latch. I tried to install it in the valve body just to see if the compression of the seating ring would hold it together, but the defect prevented the cartridge from seating properly. I returned the cartridge to Amazon and got another. That one had exactly the same defect. So, both were worthless, and absorbed hours of my time trying to make them work. Although the valves have the RP70538 code on them, there is no evidence they are made by Peerless. These are made in China. Amazon apparently has a batch of bad valve cartridges from China. I strongly recommend not purchasing this product until Amazon removes the defective valves from their inventory..

I had an issue where occasionally the hot water would not work in my shower, and a slight drip would come from the diverter. After taking it apart numerous times, getting a partial fix, and then it happening again I decided the cartridge was bad.After a few different trips to hardware stores and purchasing defective cartridges I purchased this one.The cartridge I got was made 6 months ago, and has the pictured updated system. (a plus as the hardware store ones were still 2-3 years old) You can see the differences in my photos. The scald setting is a lot easier to adjust, although I had to set mine almost all the way to the hot limit on this specific cartridge (seen in photos).The one thing I didn't need was the check valve as mine was still in good condition, unfortunately, it is pictured here with the cartridge. You will have to purchase the check valve separately if you feel you need to replace that as well.Super easy install, hope this review helps.
