Made 3 pens so far. New to hobby. Directions were a little hard to follow but I muddled through. After the first one they go together pretty easy. Mechanism is very smooth and they write very well. Will be buying more of them.

2 kits in a row had issues actually functioning. The click mechanism is junk, thin cheap plastic. Do not buy this kit. Wasted my time trying to make them along with good wood that also got wasted putting them together.

Good quality kits, a set of bushings, and a drill for the cost of just the kits directly from PSI. And the shipping was less than from PSI.

On several pens I have made, the click mechanism occasionally gets stuck in the out position. you have to force the tip back in to get it to work again. It's pretty annoying. Also, the instructions say that each tube should be 2 1/32" long. When I make them that long, the tip does not protrude far enough (see photo). I trimmed the tubes to 2" so that the tip protrudes further.

This pen has a tendency to separate at the center ring when under spring pressure. It's not a huge issue, until you forget to click it "closed" (retracted) and then find it in your bag in pieces. Sure, I could epoxy the center pieces together - The pen refill out after you unscrew the tip. But, that (included added tasks and time sanding and finishing that epoxy would bring) seems excessive...I shouldn't have to take that step to get a good finish.
