These are fantastic socks! On my initial order a couple of years ago I ordered them and two other brands of light wool socks and Peoples Socks were the only one that I reordered. I find them to be very comfortable and they last a long time.

Another fellow forester introduced me to merino wool socks. So I purchased six brands of Merino wool socks to see which merino brand socks worked the best for me. As my my feet get hot and sweaty easily even on a cold day. And I'm in work boots nearly everyday can to can't. As a Forester I'm on the hoof most of the day and wear several types of boots. Depends on various types of terrain, weather conditions, and all four seasons of the year. Surprisingly, I found the more expensive Merino wool socks didn't work as well for me. One brand said came with lifetime guarantee. Well the elasticity of the upper sock failed after a short time. I found other brands were just to warm especially in the summer here in the south. Thus, I purchased addition Peoples socks and I found that they are a great sock for my use. Very comfortable, feet do not get hot, and more importantly do not make my feet sweat when in my boot all day walking. The only negative is that the area of the sock at the ball of my foot wears out to quick in my opinion. I've got a lot of mixed matched socks as one sock would wear out a whole at the ball of the foot. But the rest of the sock is still in great shape. It's great that Peoples Socks reinforces the toe and heel. However, when on your feet walking all day the weight of your body is going to be transferred to the ball of your foot when you step forward. Which is where most of compression and friction occurs when walking or climbing. Other than having to throw out a good many socks that are perfectly good socks other than a hole in the bottom, Peoples Socks are just as good as the more expensive brand Merino wool socks.

I got my first People Socks 8-10 years ago, and they are the only socks I wear. Illinois Winter in sub-zero cold, and Summer hear to 95 degrees with 95% humidity, I'm wearing these socks. My time is split between office, farm, and on a garbage truck. And I love these socks. They stay in place, keep my feet warm and dry in the winter, and comfortable in the summer. My earliest pairs did wear thin, eventually (after a couple years). The more recent pairs have shown no thinning, and they elastic is still tight. I machine wash, and hang dry on a line in the basement. I simply don't want to wear another brand of sock.Plus, these are made in the USA, which is always a positive for me.Yes, they are a bit pricey, but I think they are absolutely worth it for the quality and durability.

This was my first pair of quality wool socks. I'm sold on the benefits. I've had them for four months and these four pairs have been in constant use. I've gotten rid of all other socks (save dress socks) because these are so much more comfortable! It was cold when I got them and they kept me warm through the cold rains of spring. Even as it is now 90+ and very humid where I live. I'm wearing them to work every day in the tire shop. They keep my my feet dry no matter how much I sweat, even wearing rubber shoes. The cushioning remains even when sweating heavily. I took these on a camping trip a couple months ago. I changed socks at lunch, hung a pair on my pack, and they were dry when we made camp a few hours later. These socks dry faster than even a thin dress sock, great for light traveling. They didn't smell even after two days of hiking! I now work out and run in these socks too. After over four months of heavy, constant use and washing (not following the care instructions btw just throwing in with everything else) they are only now beginning to show the slightest wear in the ball of the foot which is wear my socks always wear out first. Some people in the reviews complained about pilling, that was true for me too, but very mild and purely cosmetic. These socks are an investment and a bargain for the universal comfort, utility, and durability they provide.

These are great socks. I have had them for several months and they are holding up well. I have yet to try them in the winter but they still seem well cushioned and thick enough to be warm during those cold January nights.I originally bought them to use on a trip to Boundary Waters since the same sox are needed for a few days. Cotton is a no-no so these will be perfect. These wool/nylon/spandex blended sox don't retain the moisture or the smell from a good day of hiking.I soon found that they were so comfortable I started wearing them almost everyday. I wear these whenever I want to wear a comfortable sock. Luckily my day job doesn't require me to wear a dress sock so these are my everyday choice. And I dislike sox whose elasticity quickly wains such that you are constantly pulling up them up to your calf over and over. These socks are just as good staying in place as the first day I opened the package.Pros: Durable and comfortable. Elasticity is still good. Doesn't retain smells. Seems to be warm. Good color.Cons: The sox tend to pill a bit. I don't mind this but others may. The "colors" are more like shades of blue/gray. After the first washing it is difficult to tell which sock was brown or blue or charcoal. But this is more of a nit than a true complaint.Summary: Highly recommended to all, but especially those who are active and looking for a good hiking type of sock. I was happy enough with my original purchase that I just recently bought another 4 pairs.
