The stars are for the tools that come with this kit. They are awesome. The how-to video provided on the promotional page is helpful but idealized. In reality, it was a lot harder then the video portrays to get the rubber strip into the notch to hold the screen in. Don't stretch the rubber as you put it in - it will snap back and come out. I also had to use some binder clips in addition to the clips provided. They need to have some documentation in the kit that directs you to the video because there are no instructions included. One star reduction for that. The other star reduction is for the screening itself. I highly recommend NOT using the screening that comes with this, unless it being thicker and supposedly pet proof means alot to you. First, it comes folded (ideally it should be rolled) so it has creases that did not come out. I don't know if a few rain storms and summer heat will finally get them out, but I pulled it tight to try and eliminate the wrinkles without success. Also, it is so thick it made it made pushing the rubber strip and the screening in a whole lot harder. In the past the screening I have worked with is lighter weight and comes on a roll. Fortunately, this is for a window that is not seen up close much, so I'm leaving it be, but never again will I use folded up thick screening for a project like this.

I needed to re-screen my sliding patio door screen and found this complete kit that has everything. When I received it I was impressed with all that comes with it, it literally does have everything you need to screen a window or door.I removed my screen door and since it was 30+ years old it needed a paint job too so I decided to do that at the same time. I sanded it smooth, then painted it with epoxy enamel spray paint and it turned out very well.Next came the screening. I done a lot of screening over the years so this job should have taken maybe 30 minutes. However, since the screen mesh came folded, and it is the thicker vinyl covered pet screen, it had lots of bad creases in it that would not go away with just tension on the screen. So, after I got it installed as tight as I could I had to spend about an hour with a blow dryer (one of the ways to try to remove creases) working out as much of the creases as I could. I got ot about 80-90 percent of them but it was a job.Overall, this is a nice, complete screen kit but I do with the screen material was rolled and not folded. The extra labor and trouble is why I knocked off a star.Don't get me wrong, I would still buy the kit again, but I wasn't planning on having to go through the whole crease removal ordeal and spend the extra unneeded time doing that.

Screens have a shorter life span than me. I have redone all the windows that are opened last in a brittle metal screen. Lasted years did not stand up to the cats and I am redoing them again. I found this and jumped on it. The screen is soft and flexible making it easy to work with and the thick rubbery coating makes the fibers strong and resilient. Besides this is just the size for my screen door. It is not noticeably obstructive the threads are flexible and strong not needing to be doubled or tripled up or use close or alternating thread spacing to make it pet tough. The tools are good too. You will be hard pressed to locate a rib roller as good as the wood one in this kit, it will out last all screens.

This screen is heavy! Its thick and feels like better quality than the screens in my home. Easy to cut and install. I suppose the price is a little high for the work you need to put in vs cost. but i got two plus screens worth of material here, so its worth it for me.

For $28, you are definitely getting your money’s worth and then some. This kit comes with literally everything you could possibly need to replace a screen, tape measure to the heavy duty screening. My husband was really happy with the roller, and even thought the utility knife was decent quality. We’re going to be getting more screening to do the windows the cats can’t reach easily, but this will get the 5 smaller windows done that need immediate attention.

I ordered this to replace the screen on one of my windows that has a hole in it. This is a very complete kit and comes with pretty much everything you need to repair/replace a old screen using the existing frame. The included screen is much thicker than my old one and should last a long time. My old screen was more of a silver color and this one is black and gives my window almost a tinted look, which I like. The screen comes folded up so there are creases where the folds are. Even though I stretched it out while installing it, the creases are still visible. I hope it will smooth out over time. This kit comes with everything you need. It comes with the screen itself, spline, spline installation tool, hook to remove the old spline, blade, clips, measuring tape and a brush/scraper. This is a great kit if you need to replace several screens for smaller windows.
