So this works fine, for my gas logs, but the knob gets melty/soft, which my old valve didn't do. I even added the extension to try and get it farther from the flame. Don't know if it's the knob or that my flames are bigger(?) than with the old valve (which got clogged or something).

It did not fit easily to my 1970's fireplace and my husband had to add an additional piece for it to connect properly without leaking. The assembly should maybe be in two pieces so you can tighten independently.

This valve fit in a narrow opening. It does the job. I like that it is the same brand as my gas logs.

when in open position. A flame test at connections while fireplace was on resulted in a small flame around shaft. No flame or gas fumes noted when the valve is closed

We had the gas line installed and it came time to test the pressure of the line and it failed. The certified installer took a while to find out what happened and he came to the conclusion it was this valve. It was a manufacturing defect.EDITED: We were contacted by the seller and they sent a new valve. The original was defective. Now with all of it fixed we have a fireplace!
