My daughter is getting married. We are thrilled. (For more on that, read my review on the brown men’s dress shoes.)First she fell in love with a wonderful man. Then she fell in love with a beautiful strapless dress with what apparently often passes these days for boning. Unfortunately the boning that came in her dress is more for the aesthetic than for actually providing structure. Enter this roll of boning. As best I can tell, this will provide the structure and support needed for the bodice of her dress. It is firm and strong, with just enough flexibility to have the “give” one would want if one wants to breathe.I’ve given it and the dress to a local seamstress, and I’m eager to see the finished result!

This is a nice and affordable way to add boning to your sewing supplies. The boning feels sturdy and is nicely covered with PVC to reduce the likelihood of the boning poking through the garment over time.

My daughter is happy with this high quality product, she was using trimmed zip-ties prior and this is much better option. :-)

I thought this was a great price for what you get - not quite 5.5 yards of pvc-covered steel boning. Boning is usually sewn (or hand-stitched) into seams or casings in order to create structure, support, and shape to:Corsets and bodicesBras and lingerieDresses and topsSwimwearHats, bags, etcThis particular boning comes rolled up in a circle and in a plastic bag. It's zip-tied together to prevent it flinging open. The fact that it is pvc-covered helps with sliding it in and out of fabric (nice!) and hopefully also helps it to last longer without staining fabric or anything (VERY nice!). You're going to need something more than sewing scissors to cut this (think tin snips or something of that nature).Overall this is VERY rigid and perfect for my sewing! I like the price, too. Definitely recommend!

I've used steel boning in a number of costumes over the years but it's my first time trying out this brand. I really like this product, it's strong but has a good amount of bend. I also really like the coating, other brands I've used have had a textured coating which protects the steel but occasionally gets caught on the boning channels as it's being fed through. The PVC coating on this is nice and slick so it'll slide right through even very narrow channels which makes it easier to use. I'm impressed so far and it seems like a good value. This isn't a very long piece of steel so not ideal for entire hoopskirts and things like that but it's perfect for corsets or other smaller costume pieces that need precise sized bones where precut pieces aren't the right size. Very happy with this so far.

I used this as shaping for the sides of the corset I made. I used the metal ones for all around so it was easier to move. It works great!

Super happy with this item. It is just as it was described and is pretty easy to use. Of course, you'll need some cutters to adjust the sizing.

I have used this roll of boning for several different corsets and bodices no, and it’s always been easy to work with. The fact that it’s on a roll allows me to cut it to size, which is really convenient. I like how easy it is to break by bending it in half or using pliers. This boning is great for stabilizing rows on either side of eyelets. I’d definitely call this a great starter roll of boning to lean bodice-making with.
