In my mind, Pickett is the gold standard for drawing templates. Flexible plastic with nibs on the underside to minimize unwanted contact with the drawing surface.

I do a lot of drawings and in some cases I need to insert lines and arrows to specific drawings, this saves time in not having to re-copy the drawing and printing them.

This is a good square template- firm, hard plastic and comparable to the "other" brand of templates on the market, but a little less expensive. My issue with it is this- it has little tiny hard nubs dotted over one side of the template. They are meant to hold the template slightly OFF the paper to help you avoid smudging anything underneath, which is sort of a good idea except that I like to flip my templates all over the place as I work with them, and when I use this, if I flip it and then rest my hand on it to draw it's like tiny little spikes poking up into my hand.So this would be great for draftspeople, architects, and people doing work on flat surfaces, but for people who use the templates on canvas or uneven surfaces, or don't want to have to worry about the orientation of the template as they work, I would give this one some thought.
