I play fiddle professionally and these are my go-to strings I do use EVA Gold on E but that's just me I keep the E string as backup. so I know I have a good back up E NO deference in sound.

Bought as a gift for my violin/fiddle playing daughter. She plays quite aggressively with some pieces, putting extra stress on the strings. Whether a quiet piece or a bluegrass favorite, the sound quality is excellent. We're glad to have them!

The best!!!! Great for when you need clear tone, smooth positional sliding, and a quick break-in time. (Have played in contests and professionally for almost 15 years and refuse to use anything else.)

These steel strings are very fast to play and also sound great! I bought them because I'm working on irish fiddle tunes that I've been trying to bow faster on. These strings have helped in that effort. Plus they still sound plenty rich in tone.I also heard steel strings are longer lasting than synthetic core so I'm hoping this will be the case but I haven't had them on long enough to know for sure. But I do find these strings to be navigable; i,e, easy and fast to play on. They seem to be high quality. I have Prim strings on my other violin and they are also very fast, but they don't sound quite as mellow as these Chromcor strings sound.

Chromcors are great strings for fiddle playing. They have a lot of character for steel, but are still very focused, clear, and powerful. I've experimented extensively with lots of different steel strings, including Preludes, Prims, Chromcors, Helicores, and Black Diamond Violin Strings, and one of the clearly superior things of Chromcors compared to everything else in that list is nuance and sensitivity. You can play soft, loud, short bow strokes, long bow strokes, up by the finger board, down by the bridge, and always feel definite control and responsiveness. The only "easier" (more responsive?) strings in that list were Prims, for me, but the Prims are more one-dimensional in comparison. Chromcor low strings (G and D) aren't as bright as some other options, so if your fiddle is dull and quiet on the low end you might look elsewhere (Prims maybe?), but on my fiddle (fairly new Chinese bright fiddle) they sound great, with some satisfying growl. It doesn't take much bow at all to play really fast on the low strings, with Chromcors, too, which I like a lot. Also, the Chromcor A string is AWESOME and you should consider mixing it with other sets if you're an experimenter. Some classical violinists like to use a chromcor A string with expensive synthetic or gut D and G strings. AND, the Chromcor E string has a chrome steel winding and a lovely sound with no whistling. It is surprisingly loud and powerful for a wound E string.

These strings are great for beginners. They sound clear and vibrant and hold their tuning very well. Very responsive. They are a little one-dimensional and bland for advanced players, but are good overall. Would make good Celtic/Irish strings.
