Did not come with any mounting instructions. Also mounting bracket for device does not fit standard handlebars even with shims. Will revise review if I hear from company on my questions.

Unfortunate that there aren’t other options out there for rear wheel sensors. This wire kit is longer, but honestly it barely makesIt and that’s with an undesired routing to get it there. Needs another foot of wire to really allow for a professional looking install.

I bought this longer length sensor to use a PlanetBike Protege 5.0 on a road bike that sits on a trainer so only the rear wheel spins. The standard placement for these types of bike computer sensors is on the front fork with the spoke magnet placed on the front wheel. Therefore the sensor cable that comes with the Protege is too short to use on the back wheel. So thankfully they sell this replacement cable that is much longer and designed to reach the back wheel. But, although the length is fine to reach the rear wheel, the placement of the sensor on any part of the rear frame near the wheel does not get the sensor and spoke magnet close enough to each other. It needs to be between 2 and 5 millimeters for the two to “connect” which is surprisingly close. So, like others who posted in the reviews, I needed to put something between the frame and the sensor to get it close enough to the spoke magnet. As you can see in the pic I used a few strips of rubber as a shim. In fact because both this extension cable and the original Protege package came with an assortment of shims to mount the computer itself to the handlebars, I had plenty of extra to use for this purpose. That’s what you see in the pic with a bit of electrical tape to clean up the extra material. My advice is to be prepared to do a simple adjustment to move the sensor closer to the spoke magnet by using some kind of shim.

The cord was way too short. Sending it back!

I wanted something that would attach to the rear wheel. This product is perfect. Easy to install and the wire is long enough for a perfect fit.

Love it! Works as advertised. I installed the mounting end on the handlebars & wrapped my way to the rear wheel. The cord it not extremely long, but adequate. My husband had another computer on his bike, and hated it. He was the only one cycling for quite a while. I finally got jealous of his weight loss & fitness and purchased a trainer for my (under used) road bike & the Protege 8. Once I got the Protege 8 all set up with this cable installed, there were no issues. I have now “ridden” over 400 miles with no issues. A few weeks ago hubby upgraded to Protege 8 too (with another one of these kits). We’re both happy.

I installed the holding bracket on the front fork of a short wheelbase recumbent, using the 130 mm length version. The cord is long enough, with several mm's to spare. Installation was simple and easy, but from the spacing required, it was apparent that installation on a rear wheel would have required the addition of spacers to bring the sensor close enough to the magnet. Directions were clear and it is easy since the installation can be on either the right or left side fork.

I bought this because the computer I bought only came with a front wheel mount for the sensor and I was going to be using a trainer indoors for a couple of months, so I needed the sensor to be on the back wheel. The sensor works perfectly but they don't account for how much further away the rear part of the bike frame is from the actual wheel. With a 2mm tolerance it is impossible to get the sensor and magnet close enough together without using about an inch of rubber. Once you get it installed it's great, but beware of this flaw and plan ahead.
