Reviewing this, because Amazon needs me to, but this one never came. I DID reorder it in gray and have written a review of that one.At first, the other one was iffy- wouldn't stay in place. Then, I managed to get it staying, and gave it 4 stars. Now, after a few weeks, I'm finding the velcro slips off at night, on great occasion. This results in a bad fit, and lots of discomfort, as it won't stay in place, and I end up removing it. So, it's now 3 stars.

This is a funny splint. Have planter fasciitis and it's painful on the bottom of my foot. I have tried many things to relieve the pain and I figured, why not try this. The pain always seems to be worse in the morning or when I've been sitting for long periods of time. This splint holds my foot up and kind of stretches the muscle on the bottom of the foot. It's a bit tricky to put on the but the instructions that come with it are actually quite good. It suggests that you use it for only 30 min to an hour the first few times until you get used to it. I was dubious after seeing it in person, but tried it on for about 30 minutes on the couch and you know, my foot did feel better for a while. It gives a light stretch and does take a bit to get used to, but I can't argue with the slight relief of pain. The manual says it should take several months to help, but since I've been dealing with the pain for 6 months now, why not see if this makes a difference. It seems to be sized for many lengths of foot. I have a US 9.5 foot and it's larger than my foot, but almost feels too big. It's made as a one size fits all, so if you have smaller feet, you might try to find something smaller than this one.

I've had plantar fasciitis on and off for years now. For a while, I was able to get it to go away by wearing Hokas at work all the time (10-hr shift RN with a job that sometimes has me on my feet most of the day, and sometimes has me at my desk in a cubicle), but I found that my Hokas were giving me R2 toe pain. I actually thought I was developing arthritis in that toe until I switched shoes and the nagging, constant pain disappeared within a few days. So, since my Hokas were out, I switched back to an older pair of Brooks that just didn't work as well for my feet. And of course, the pain came back.Having done all the stretches, ball rolling, icing, etc. that are recommended, I thought I'd give this brace thing a try. I'd seen them before, but thought they were a silly gimmick. Now, I can't say with 100% certainty that they're not (I don't work in podiatry :P), but I used the brace on each foot for a couple hours last night and my heels DID feel a bit better. Placebo or...?The instructions say that you should work your way up to wearing these all night long, so although the brace felt pretty comfortable, I didn't want to push things too far, too fast.I'll continue to wear this nightly after work to see if it truly does help, but I'd be inclined to believe that it does.Side note, this model seems to be a bit different than some others I've seen that just use a Velcro strap. This model uses steel cables attached to a knob. After donning the brace, you can turn the knob to tighten the cables to your preferred level of stretch, and then to release, you pull up on the knob. I don't know if this is better or worse than the ones that just use Velcro straps, but I bought one of those for my other foot to see if I prefer one over the other (keep an eye out for that review to come soon). For now, I find the knob to be kind of fun to turn and tighten, but I do worry about the strength and longevity of the thin cables used to provide all that traction. Looking forward to trying the other model that should be arriving soon, but for now, so far so good with this brace.

This is a good night splint. It's easy to wear, easy to use, and it's comfortable for what it is (notes on that later). It's quite light, with no solid parts besides the knob, and it's simple to apply - you just put the straps on and twist the knob to pull the wire up, which makes your foot pull up. You can easily wear this for an hour or two before you get more experience wearing it and can wear it all night long, and it's so lightweight it's easy to forget it's there, to a point. The bottom of this splint isn't solid, which feels like a real missed opportunity to me; it pulls your toes up if you're like me, and angles them in a way that isn't really comfortable. Depending on your foot length this might not be an issue for you, but despite the right size, it was for me.The material is soft and not stretchy, which is good because you need to tighten it. The straps attach with hook-and-loop closure, which makes them easy to adjust as needed. The same thing goes for the knob, you just pull it to release the tension, and you push it back down and twist to tighten the wire. It's a simple design, but it works well, and it's easy to work with. At least, as long as you don't mind your toes potentially being pulled upwards more than you want.Again, this isn't a bad design, it's just... missing a solid bottom piece. If there was a little aluminum rod on the bottom that the wire pulled up, it would be an easy recommendation. Maybe also a little rod on the back to make sure the back stayed up easier.I only review things that I personally use myself on a regular and continued basis. I always give my full, honest, unbiased and unfiltered opinion on everything I review. I will not hold back or avoid describing any issues I have with a product. I write exactly what I think about things - the good, the bad, the ugly, and the questionable. If I get multiple of something it's because I regularly use and need both of them. And, I will update my review if something breaks, stops working as intended, or otherwise doesn't hold up as expected.
