It is not working and I am disappointed, this is the second item I got that is not working I might got to send it back.

I checked out some youtube videos of guys using these and got some good tips. It worked exactly like their devices worked. I think it has a pretty limited range of applications, but it certainly will weld plastic fenders better than most goops. I would order again.

First, this is a good little tool to help repair plastic items. But, the instructions were very incomplete. Happily, it was not difficult to figure out how it works. You're not going to end up with a repair that's invisible - but at least it should be repaired. The toolbox it comes in is not ideal for storage of the repair staples that come with it - but they can easily be stored in other containers. It does heat up very quickly, so be ready to get that repair staple in place.

Got this to fix a plastic bumper and it worked flawless! I since have been looking for plastic things to fix. So easy to use and comes with a ton of staples.

Let me be fair, this does says staples in the title description. But, when I think of a plastic welder, I picture a device that expels a molten plastic to heal a crack - this device does not do this. It is a stapler, or joiner, as long as you know that, all is well.There are some odd quirks about the product - I am not sure how they got all the stuff in the box, and I cannot get it all back in (see pics) - it is nice that they gave you a lot of supplies, though. There are all manner of different shaped staples to join many types of plastic together, as long as they melt somewhat regularly, it should work. It will not really make an aesthetically pleasing joint, though - a bit more like a Frankenstein connection with a bunch of stitches. In the case of my test article, PVC pipe, it certainly joined this very common type of plastic very securely.The supplied diagonal cutters were not very good - they would cut the staple off when done joining, but only if the wire was deep in the jaw; the tip was not strong enough to nip the very tough wire. The directions didn't say much about technique, but you NEED TO BE AWARE of a few things for safety. It says to heat for 5 seconds - I found that this will heat different staples to different heat - some were still not hot enough while other were glowing red. If they get to red, they might cause the plastic to burn - this will not only ruin your joint in plastic ashes, but will produce a noxious plastic odor. Regardless, I recommend watching how the staple heats, and have a fan blowing the work area away from your body just in case.I didn't give this product 5 stars because of poor packaging, weak clippers and minimal instructions (particularly involving safety). However, if you are able to grind the staples down, you can make some really strong, albeit not pretty, connections in many types of plastic.
