I bought a nest for the rental and figure I will be okay with the backing. That was not the case, so ordered as a backing which looks great. I just wish I had bought this when I got the nest. My other nest another generation came with the backing for my home which came in handy

Looks cooler than the nest ones my wall was pretty messed up back there and this was way less work than fixing the wall and it still looks nice

I installed an older Nest Thermostat in my home 3 years ago and everything went smoothly. I tried to install the New Nest Thermostat and couldn’t. I had to have a Heating/AC serviceman install it. He even had a hard time installing it. The installation cost a lot more than the Thermostat. Also the thermostat setup was difficult.
