Now that Spring is here I opened the package to use the bulb and it is broken. Out of the box the connection inside the bulb appears to be broken and this costly bulb does not work!UPDATE: Finally took the new one, to replace the first broken one they sent me, out of the box. IT DID NOT WORK EITHER! Too late to return it because they sent it to me last April 2019 and I did not need to use it (because while waiting for the replacement for the first defective one, I purchased a bulb elsewhere) and used that. If you purchase this bulb suggest you don't be as stupid as I was and test it as soon as you get it! If I could give this 0 stars I would!

There is an ED17 version and a BD17 version. The difference is the diameter of the glass cylinder directly about the metal threaded socket part. The BD version will not fit into the ceramic socket on an ED fitting. However, the ED version will fit into a BD socket. As these lights usually require a tall ladder or bucket truck to change, having the correct bulb is useful. I learned the hard way. Not the sellers fault. The original lighting fixture sold by Lithonia Lighting did not specify the replacement bulb size nor part number. My issue is with Lithonia for poor or no information. This bulb worked as advertised.

I was shopping for a replacement bulb for my metal halide light but the cost of buying them even at a local discount store was beyond my imagination. I turned to Amazon because of the growing trend that they probably have what I am looking for at a greatly reduced price. I didn't even have to waste time and gas driving to several hardware stores.This bulb performs just a good or better than the original OEM bulb. It also has a protected arc which is a plus and it can be installed in any position. The 4200K color scale is exactly the same as the OEM so I decided to purchase three for the same price that I would have paid for one locally. The bulbs came in a very good packaged box that ensured a good delivery! To my surprise, the bulbs arrived lightning FAST...that really made my day!Thanks to Amazon, we can have great optimism in shopping online!
