PNW brings us a dropper post fit for any bike with the Coast Suspension Dropper. It is the perfect match for your gravel bike, touring rig, or even commuter with 100 or 120mm of travel and 40mm of suspension. The suspension absorbs the small bumps we encounter on both gravel roads and pavement, allowing us to stay seated to pedal through the chop more efficiently. 100 - 120mm of travel allows us to get behind our saddle to lower our center of gravity for descending, as well as more comfortably wait for that light to turn green when riding in town.

This was the only combination Dropper Suspension and Seat Post that I could find. The reviews indicated that it was a very high-quality unit but since it had both features combined, would not provide as much suspension as other seat suspension systems. The common claim I read was it would take the harshness out of the hardest of bumps. I found the unit very easy to install. The cable and trigger system seemed complicated but were not once you got into it. The dropper system works very well but I found the suspension system much better than expected. It provides noticeable absorption over all bumps and make the ride more comfortable w/o sacrificing road feel and handling. A great unit!

I loved this dropper post with the added feature of having some suspension. Just enough to take out the jolt of unexpected bumps. At 275 lbs it didn't hold up so I sent it back and got a second one. It too failed so I think the weight limit is lower than they say it is. I would say anyone over 250 should probably look elsewhere because when the suspension stops holding air pressure, the post drops and stays there.I can't say enough good things about PNW's wonderful customer support. None better. Top notch all the way. They worked with me and were quick to refund my payment since it didn't work out. Ten Stars for PNW support! The product my cost a bit more but the quality tech support makes it worth it.

I own a Specialized Sirius X 2.0 Hybrid bike. Not a road, mountain, gravel, commuter ...it's a little everything. I use it for a little everything as well. I just installed the external dropper post with the Loam lever. It's awesome. Easy install. My bike has internal routing that exits at the bottom of the bottom bracket for rear break and derailer. The frame was already drilled from the factory (for higher packaged 2x bikes) with a hole for a front derailer cable. It had a little black plug in it. Freaking perfect for this install. Anyway. I'm in love already. No real saddle time yet. I'm 5 staring it off the initial run around the block. If I find any issues I will update.

I’ll go ahead with 5 stars on this. 4.5 might be more accurate. It does what it is designed to do and does it very well. I wanted a dropper post for my heavy ebike so I can drop it at stops and reach the ground without getting off the seat. My bike also doesn’t have rear suspension; not a huge deal but with this, I could add the dropper function land a suspension function for the same price as a dropper post. The suspension was a free bonus essentially. I’ve had it for a few days now. As others have stated, the air suspension is primarily for larger bumps, not for taking the little rough bumps. Air suspension is an odd idea to me, I would prefer spring but it seems really solid and if you dial in the right psi, it works well. The dropper function is smooth and the directions were simple for install. I do wish it would come up a little quicker. It rises perfectly but the last 10% takes a bit. I actually dialed it in to where my optimal max height is at that 90% level. So, it gives me a quick rise and I have the option to raise it a little further if I need.

i am very happy with the post. Initially i thought it was losing pressure but it was my fault as every time i pumped it to 300psi then when i unscrewed the pump i lost about half of that. Once i figured out how to pump it correctly the pressure holds.

The suspension works very well and also the dropper. It just goes at the right speed. It makes a real difference for trails with a lot of roots. In addition, the suspension does not activate for nothing when pedaling. I recommend.

With this latest PNW Coast Dropper I now have a dropper seatpost installed on all my bikes. Over the last 4 years I have used excellent ones by Thomson Covert, CrankBrothers Hiline, and PNW Cascade. The Thomson has the quickest and best feeling action on the return, but it is the priciest. The CB lever is the best for finding the most custom ergonomic fit, and the CB dropper has been flawless through 2000 miles of Moab, Colorado front range, and Austin Greenbelt Trails. The PNW brand is my new favorite due to the variety of options, awesome price point, and generally comparable features and performance as the other two. My brother and friends have had bad experiences with SRAM, KS, and other brands, so I have stayed away from trying those. Also I will only use cable actuated (vs hydraulic actuated) seatpost droppers for ease of servicing and other benefits. This PNW Coast is a (31.7/125) little bit shorter than a PNW Cascade (31.7/125) when fully inserted into my bike. For shorter riders like me, it feels like it is almost an inch difference. I dont have many other options so I am grateful for this newest Coast seatpost. The air suspension is a bit of a mystery initially, given that I want efficient climbing. Given that I ride clipless pedals (CB Mallet Enduro) almost 100% of the time, I needed a seatpost that would not bob up and down on the upstroke of each pedal rotation. With sufficiently high PSI, the bobbing action can completely eliminated but it also has no cushioning at that high of pressure. The air chamber is likely very small, so when pumping it up - users have to be aware of how much pressure is lost when you unscrew the oump from the valve. Seems like this seatpost has a much more significant loss of PSI (compared to my fox shox or cane creek shocks) when I unscrew the pump off the valve, so users definitely olay around with this before finding the right PSI that works for your weight, terrain, and riding style. Keep a shock pump with you if you need to change it up during your ride! Hopefully the air chamber doesnt fail but there is the 3-year warranty to assure me. Based on my experiences so far.... the high quality construction, simplicity of packaging, and consistently flawless performance make it a highly recommended seatpost dropper.Like the previous reviewer, which I concur with, I also reserve the 5th star for when a more lightweight version comes out. However if this dropper lasts 3-years without any issues I will upgrade my review. I will update each year.....
