Perfect. I purchased this in hopes that it would fit the 80w harbor freight plastic welding kit. It screws in fine. A little smaller but once it’s screwed all the way in and the set screw is turned down it isn’t going anywhere

Fits the iron in that kit, but it does not engage the threads. The threads in the HF iron are M6 x 1.0, not threaded to bottom of thread form, OD of HF tip is .233". This tip is 12-24 NPT with approx .212 OD, thus there is approx .020" play such that the threads do not engage at all. As Mike pointed out the screw in the HF iron holds this tip in the iron adequately so it solders OK. The HF iron got this tip up to around 425 deg F (measured with a thermocouple) at first, after using over 30 min it dropped to around 385 deg F. Didn't have a temp control (or dimmer switch) but was able to fix cracked HDPE exterior of cooler with Polyvance HDPE rods, had to move faster to avoid burning since I had no temp control. Still did a good job. Going to eventually get the Polyvance 5210 FiberFlex Repair Kit https://www.amazon.com/Polyvance-FiberFlex-Repair-Kit/dp/B0007LDJBY/ and use this tip with that, once I get a temp control built.

This is for making repairs on plastic. Not much of a thing one might say, until you repair a part on an 83 Mercury Capri RS that is impossible or so expensive to replace that you are ready to scrap the whole project. It is made of brass but easily worth it's weight in gold at that moment. I love it!
