If you find yourself stepping up to the challenge of replacing the timing belt on a Honda...in my case 2001 odysee...you will need a tool like this. Probably the single most difficult part of this task is breaking that crank shaft pulley bolt. Talk to anyone that has done this and you will hear plenty of horror stories...get the right tool for the job. Anyway, the tool worked well and I navigated this removal and installation without too much issue. Not sure which helped most prior to using the holder, heating the bolt or hitting it a few walks with the 1/2" impact. My air wrench puts out 1500 ft/lb of torque which was nice. Once I got everything situated and a good breaker bar on this holder was able to use a good size cheater bar and break the crank shaft pulley bolt. The holder did its job and I was able to use it on the installation and subsequent torque when putting the crank pulley back on. Well worth the money even for a one time use. It took my son and I both to do the job. One held the tool in place and the other jumped on the breaker bar.

Having the right tool makes all the difference and this was definitely it. I attached it to a breaker bar against the ground to hold the crank pulley in place. I purchased an extra huge 3/4 breaker bar and 20" extension to break it free. I was surprised at how much force it took, but it worked. I watched several videos on YouTube on how to get the crank bolt off, but all looked dangerous or potentially could cause a lot of damage. I also searched locally for such a tool and nobody seemed to know what I was talking about. The Honda dealer was certainly evasive. Now I have a fantastic tool that I may never have to use again, so may go into the timing belt replacement business. (not) Definitely worth the price.

2000 Honda Accord EX ...and...2005 Honda Odyssey EXI was faced with the unique pleasure of doing two back-to-back Honda timing belt jobs. While a Honda tech might reasonably scoff at such whining, doing a timing belt job on ANY vehicle is a daunting task for the non-tradesman. If you are taking on the onerous job of replacing your timing belt on your Honda--and you lack a sufficiently robust impact wrench to remove the pulley bolt--this tool is requisite.I purchased this aftermarket tool as an alternative the the extortionately-priced OEM Honda tool. The exclusive job of this design-specific, purpose-built tool is to hold the crankshaft pulley stationary while one wrenches loose the stubborn 19mm bolt (tightened to ~190ftlbs!) that secures the thing. This tool is solid cast steel--no welds. It functioned perfectly. It fit its recess within the crankshaft pulley with minimal play; the thing fit my Craftsman breaker bar snugly with zero slippage in either direction. An excellent product that'll likely never see use again.

If you have ever tried to remove the crank pulley while off a 1994 Honda Accord (I have a DX) without this or a similar special tool, you know that it is an exercise in futility. It is really difficult. Even with this tool, I had to use a 6 foot long pipe as a cheater bar, putting most of my 200 lbs on the bar to snap it loose (I would estimate it actually took over 600 ft-lbs to break it loose after 9 years of not replacing the timing belt). As other reviewers have mentioned, it does fit a little loose in the pulley, but I don't think it's a dealbreaker, or a reason to drop it a star. Once you set up your breaker bars and put a little pressure on it, it will stay in place for you to crank it off. In this way I was able to break the bolt loose by myself. If you are shopping for this tool, you are probably also shopping for timing belts... this is where you need to be careful. Make sure you are getting the belt with the correct number of teeth for your car's make, model, and trim level. Amazon is often wrong about what is compatible with your car until people correct them. They sent me a belt with 112 teeth for my 1994 Accord DX, but that one is only good for the EX trim level. My car needed the one with 113 teeth.

I needed this tool to do a timing belt job on my Honda, and it saved me a lot of time and money. It obviously isn't as well built as the honda specialty tool for this job, BUT it got the job done, and the tool stood up to the 100+ foot pounds that is needed to break the bolt loose and to tighten. It didn't warp, bend or break, it held its shape and allowed to break the bolt and tighten it later with no problems. Specialty tools like these can cost 100s of dollars, but you can save lots of money by getting this aftermarket product. great tool, very impressed with the quality. If you need to break the crank bolt loose, just buy this tool and save the time of trying to use other methods, this is fast, simple and cost effective

Don't hesitate getting this item if need to remove any Honda crankshaft pulley because it does the job perfectly. There are some tricks to getting the pulley off that doesn't require using this hex key but this makes the job much easier even when using air tools. A must have if using hand tools. It will make life easier once you get it.Don't let the inexpensive price fool you, this is a quality tool. A very hefty tool made with a thick steel design that will last a lifetime. It won't break or twist like some other designs. Has a good coating on it so it won't rust and makes it more scratch resistant. This one takes a simple 1/2" drive so works with many breaker bars. Fits deeply into the hex of the crankshaft and plenty of space for any socket to remove 19mm bolt. I used some DIY hack tool part in the past and this tool beats them. I've used some cheap stamped steel versions and thick cast aluminum alloy ones that twist or break. Other quality version of this tool require weird attachments handles.
