NOT a direct fit for 55 Ford as they are 6v positive ground and this is a 12v unit

Purchased for my 64.5 Mustang that had an original generator. I did not want to alter the appearance but needed to upgrade amperage in my system. This baby houses a 95 amp alternator inside that generator looking housing ! Fit and install simple!!! Great product

Replaced generator in my 260, worked great using existing brackets. I was required to adjust the mounts slightly to get best alignment with the pulley and water pump. It's providing a steady 14v at idle

WIth an 8 gauge 'charge wire' two feet in length, and an 8 gauge ground wire, the voltmeter is consistently reading at 14 volts. If you don't want to mess around with bracketry or alignment, this approach is the way to go and is worth the price point imho. A minor quibble is I was unable to use the original mounting bolt in the lower adjusting point, but was able to configure a slightly smaller nut and bolt that holds it in place. The pulley that ships with this SKU leaves it about 1/2 inch short in my application, but Powermaster's tech support line advised me that I'd likely have to reuse the pulley from my generator, so was not surprised.

It arrived on time. It fit without significant adjustment or any modification. I installed it per the instructions, it worked. The headlights on my truck no longer dim at the stop light. The unit resembles the original generator in shape, and color, almost doubles the amperage output capability of the original. Electrical noise on the system is reduced significantly (measured with oscilliscope)compared to the original. This upgrade is, or at least should be, a prerequisite before installing any modern electronic devices like an electronic distributor, fuel injection system, computer etc.One tiny quibble. The instructions instruct you to not "Overtighten the output connection nut." but give you no torque spec. I contacted the manufacturer and they provided a torque spec of 50 inch pounds. That worked fine. So far, a good product, well made, that performs as advertised!
