Your cart is empty.Lag screw bolts are used in place of standard wood screws whenever the mounting surface must bear a heavy load. The hex head allows for lag screws to be tightened with more torque than can be used on Phillips head screws, though a pilot hole is still required prior to installation. Note that lag screws do not accept nuts as they are technically thick heavy duty wood screws with threads designed to cut into wood. They are ideal for use on decks since installation can be accomplished without having access to both ends of the fastener, as opposed to standard hex bolts that require a nut on the opposite end.

I needed extra long, quality, galvanized screw bolts and these tick all of the boxes. Socket application tightens snugly. 6" length bonds 4x4 and 4x4 perfectly.

These quality bolts come in handy when a longer fastener is required. Just drill a pilot hole and install with socket wrench. Galvanized for exterior elements.

Disappointed to have 2 of these shear off while trying to get my gates hung. Holes pre drilled full depth with correct sized bit... regular 3/8 socket wrench by hand to install (not air gun).. now I am left with huge job of drilling down center of sheared bolts to try and extract what's there without damaging hinges or negating the 4x6 post holes to secure my hinges.... frustrating....

Dip was quite uneven a few would not fit in appropriate sized socket. Several also had dull tips. Used with a few I had bought from HD and difference was noticeable

I bought 2 packs of 15 lag screws, at almost a dollar apiece. In one of the bags, 2 of the screws had heads that were completely rounded off. It was hard to tell if this was a defect or a sorting error. Regardless, I was 2 screws short on my project plans and did not receive the full value of the purchase. It was still cheaper than my local big box store, so plus a star for that, but if you need a precise number don't plan for all the fasteners to be usable.
