Perfect. Got stuck once and my key wouldn't go in because the lock has a mechanism inside. If it doesn't release then key won't work. Took some time but I got in my house

While the screw holes fit in the exact same position of the previous lock, nothing else did.I had to use my grinder to cut the spindle several times until I got the length I needed for my 1" thick door. The strike plate spacers provided were half as thick as needed, so I had to rig a custom block. These seem to be the standard from what I've seen in thee Amazon catalog. The spring latching mechanism on the strike plate feels extremely cheap and looks like it wont last a year. I don't see why you'd need a lock on this, as a strong pull will tear off the latch. In summary, dont expect a quick replacement. And expect zero security from this lock.

This was sent to me defective and without the keys. The lever was jammed and there were no keys in the packaging. I immediately started a replacement order to see if this was an anomaly but the replacement order has been delayed now for a while with no progress in sending it to me. Quality control issues with incomplete packaging.Update: The replacement was sent to me shortly after this review went live. The replacement had all of the correct parts and was not defective like the first. It is what I was expecting for the money. The only complaint about the product in general is you have to leave the screws a little loose when securing it to your door or else it will bind the internal components, and jam the lock, which will cause your buttons to lock up and require you to jiggle it back open. In the end, you end up with a decent looking handle that has a fair amount of play in it when grasping.

I got this to replace an existing door latch. It was similar in dimensions, but I did have to drill a new hole in the screen door frame since one hole did not line up with the new latch. Overall, I didn't have a lot of trouble, but the instructions were a bit skimpy. It has a long pin that pushes the latch knob open when you press on the key button. That pin is overly long and has notches on it so you can break it off to be the right length to make the latch work. So I had some difficulty figuring out the right length. If you make it too short it work work at all, so you must be very careful in breaking off the pin at the correct notch that makes it the right length. Fortunately, I got the right length after a couple of wrong guesses. So the bottom line is that the instructions could have had better illustrations and directions, but it can work if you're careful. Also, the pushbutton/key slot was kind of shaky. It seems a bit loose, even after installation. Finally, if you insert the key and turn it counterclockwise to unlock it, you'd better not keep turning it past the unlock position or it will cause the lock cylinder to come out entirely. That seems like something that could make the latch inoperative if you're unable to reinsert the key cylinder in the pushbutton knob.

After installing the hardware it worked okay, but not effectively. I figured out that although the metal rod reaching from the push button to the lever reached...it was a smidgen too long. (Everything screwed together well). If you can see the metal rod when not pushing the button, it is too long. I cut of one little section and it latches perfectly and the key lock operates smoothly. Previously, the key lock did not operate well, it seemed to catch.I hope this review will help others.

Before purchasing this door handle, I had purchased one made by the Wright brand. What a wrong choice that was! I spent hours trying to get that one to install and work correctly with horrible results. There was so much wrong with that handle that I had to return it.After that experience, I went online and did some research to find something better. It seems that not too many companies make locking screen door handles. Many of the ones I did find had bad reviews. Then I found this model and decided to give it a try. What a great a choice I made!Installation was a breeze. It took about 10 minutes to swap out my old handle with the new one. Best of all, the spindle from my old handle that connects the lock to the handle was fully compatible with the new handle - no modification necessary. The handle aligned perfectly with my door's holes as well. The handle and its hardware are very durable. It all appears to be made of metal, with the exception of the two latch strike spacers which are made of plastic. The only flaw I can find with this product is the installation instruction sheet. It is very minimal, but this is not a major issue. Most of the installation procedure is common sense. The handle is made in Taiwan in case anyone is wondering.
