I was looking for a black screen door spring that was similar to zinc ones I have used before. All I could find in box stores were silver spring only or door kit with hinges, door pull and very thin spring about diameter of a pencil. This spring, like the zinc is about diameter of pinky finger. My only beef is that is way overpriced. Zinc springs are under three dollars, door kit with two hinges, door pull and thin spring are $13. This spring is $20. Kind of a rip off, but it was the only one I could find.

It’s being used to help close a fence gate. It’s very effective and was easy to install. However since it’s constantly exposed to weather I was hoping the black paint coating would protect it from rusting. After only 4 months it’s showing signs of rust. I will have to remove, clean, and repaint within the year.

There's no better means of keeping hinged screen doors closed behind a crew of active youngsters than Prime-Line's traditional spring closers. The 2 anchor hooks that accompany each springs are also quite sturdy and easily installed in a couple of minutes' time. Recommended.
