The tile cutter seems like the kind of thing that would cost 2-3x at a large box store. It's solid and heavy and large. There are several parts to attach, with no instructions, they assume it must be obvious to you, and maybe it is if you are in the market for this beast. The anti-slip handle is comfortable. It can handle 1.5x1.5ft tiles well, and is faster than a wet saw. If less precise.

As a home repair contractor, I typically only use snap cutters for ceramic tile so I was (and still am, to a degree) a little skeptical of the entire concept of snap cutting porcelain tile since high quality porcelain tile is notoriously tough to cut without a good wet saw. When I saw that this cutter has a tungsten carbide cutting wheel (I’ve come to realize how useful that material is when drilling through particularly hard steel), I decided to give this tile cutter a try.I had a partial box of 12” X 12” porcelain tile so I pulled this out of the box to see how it does…I have to say, I’m pretty impressed. The tile I tested it with has some surface (depth) variations so it wasn’t an absolutely perfect cut edge, but for straight cuts that are going to get overlapped anyway, this will save a ton of time (since wet saws are slow).Haven’t tried it yet on larger format tiles, but I do wonder how well the snap cutting concept will work for long cuts on uneven glazed porcelain surfaces like the 12”x12” tile I tested this with…we shall see.For now, based on what I’ve seen from this larger format tile snap cutter, I give it a solid five stars…especially since it’s so reasonably priced.
