I ordered this valve spring tester a couple of years ago and just yesterday pulled it out of it’s packaging to use. First thing l noticed was that the fluid had all leaked out and the plunger was fully collapsed. Hmmm, not good but ok l’ll just refill with some universal tractor hyd fluid. Nope. The fill/bleeder plug is so tight (Loctite?) it will not budge even with a cheater bar on it. The gauge comes off with effort but without being able to bleed pressure off after a refill you can’t “zero” the gauge. Reinstalling the gauge after adding fluid causes internal pressure to build and the only way to bleed/zero it is to drill/tap a new bleeder plug. This tester should have easily lasted 2 years unused in it’s original packaging. Booo! 1-Star.

Good for the price point. Not a something I’d buy for machine shop everyday use, but ok for my once in a blue moon usage and level of accuracy. If I need more accuracy I’ll take my springs to a Machine shop. I do recommend this product for that kind of environment.

Checked 1st valve spring and worked great. While checking second spring, gauge stuck at 225 lbs and would not move. Returned for refund.

Pleased to have invested in this small tool, I used it against a few different Cylinder head springs and it is interesting to see closed valve spring rate as well as opened valve/full lift rate of old and new springs. I would buy it again
