About this item

  • Progressive rate
  • High quality chrome silicon wire
  • Precision wound
  • A progressive rate spring has the advantage of a rising rate resistance to compression
  • Measures 1.35 inches OD by 22.5 inches length

The original progressive rate fork springs soak up the small road bumps, yet are firm enough to absorb the molar-rattling ones. Spring rates have been chosen to reduce front end inch dive inch during braking, yet still provide excellent ride comfort. Better yet, we warranty our fork springs for life. Progressive rate fork springs have several advantages over straight rate springs. A progressive rate spring has the advantage of a rising rate resistance to compression. The benefit of this is that the spring can be soft enough at the start of the travel to offer a inch plush inch ride, yet be firm enough at the end of the travel to soak up the big bumps.

Good improvement over stock much needed.I was expecting some more stiffness in the first part of the springs. I then added preloadable fork caps. This too has made improvement. But know what I got now. I would have just went with heavier straight compression fork springs.

Do not listen to the naysayers, this does not soften the front suspension. Sitting static like in the photo on the stands the bike now sits a full 1 in taller in the front. Also ignore the instructions that tell you 3-in spacer as that is incorrect. You need a minimum of 3 and 1/2. This absolutely transformed the way the bike rides. I went from bottoming out the front forks on small potholes in gravel roads, to being able to jump the levy of my pond getting the bike two to three feet off the ground and still not bottoming out the front forks. This somehow makes the bike actually ride smoother on roof roads and feel exactly the same on smooth roads. You would think being stiffer it would ride worse but it rides better everywhere. With the factory setup I could bottom out the forks sitting still by holding the front brake and shoving the bike forward. Doing so now will only move the springs roughly two to two and a half inches. These are the springs the bike should have came from the factory with.

Installed on my 08 klr650, was super easy to install only took a ratchet, extension, 22mm socket, hacksaw 'to cut the spacers', and 32mins of my lunch break. Brake dive reduced by 60 - 70% easy. Way firmer but not jarring on the street, much easier to soak up the hits offroad

I don't know why I didn't do this sooner. This has to be one of the most cost effective upgrades you can do to your KLR 650. I know there are better setups one can go with for more money but what a difference a simple spring swap can make. I am not a little guy and the front end of my stock KLR was very soft and would dive big time under braking. With the new springs the mush is gone and I have renewed confidence. Be sure not to cross thread the fork tube caps. They can be a little fussy to start the thread with the preload tension, just be patient. Very easy install up until that point. Just make sure you start the caps by hand.

Amazon is wanting me to mention the sheerness and thickness of this item. The sheerness is amazing. Especially after installation. The springs are so sheet I can't even see them!!Seriously, the install was really easy on my 2008 KLR. I replaced the fork oil but reused the seals as they were not already leaking. The bike handles much better now. I really needed this upgrade. I am 265 lbs and have three pelican cases that are hard mounted. No more brake dive!!! The ride is a bit harder but the bike feels way more stable. Will be going off road in a couple weeks. I expect the performance of the springs will be even better than on the road. Now that that's done, it'stime to get a Progressive 465 read shock!! But, that will have to wait until after Christmas.

Installed these on an '08 KLR 650. Installation when smooth. Very high quality spring. This is one upgrade is on my top 3-4 list for price/value - benefit. It really changes how the bike rides, handles, etc. A bit rougher on the highway, but the dive during braking is reduced by 70%+. I'm very happy.

Perhaps the best upgrade I have made to my bike. Very simple to install. All you need is a 22mm socket, 1 1/2 pipe cutter, tape measure, and a coat hanger. Whole job takes about 20 mins. Not difficult at all. I purchased a brand new KLR650 and put about 1,000 miles on it. 50/50 Street / dirt. Bottomed out the soft stock springs over a dozen times. Replaced them with these Progressive springs; WOW!!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE!No more nose diving under braking conditions. Sooo much easier to get the front wheel up and over large rocks, stumps, and chuck holes. The handling of the bike has went from soft and spongy to firm and stable. Sand traps and loose gravel are so much easier to maneuver through due to the firmness of the new springs.I also changed the rear spring after installing these. The results are unbelievable. This 350 lb pig has a new spirit. It handles like a much lighter bike than it actually is. My KLR has become a nimble and certainly a more capable off road machine. These will not let you down. "No pun intended"

These springs are easy to install. They are better than stock. My only gripe is that they are not stiff enough. My front front end still dives too muck when braking. I plan to install a longer spacer to see if that helps.
