I used to be able to buy hylomar at local auto parts houses. Nobody carries it anymore. Had to order it because I have used it many times in the past on cars and there are applications where it is superior to any of the other silicone products.

Understand that this is a gasket dressing, not a make your own gasket RTV type product. I use this on carburetors, drain pan gaskets and the like. It works for me as an adhesive to hold the gaskets in place during assembly and has the bonus of helping them seal. It does not harden allowing dis-assembly and continues to seal should parts thermally expand at different rates.

Works great, but make sure you follow the instructions. If you have a surface that won't seal, run a piece of sewing thread around it, effectively making an "O-ring" seal. Will seal minor imperfections, but not deep gouges. This is a gasket sealer, not a gasket maker. I think it is the best out of all the sealers. You can disassemble the parts years later with no problems. Rather pricey tho!
