I was impressed by the quality of this case. I hated to return it, but it didn’t fit my sax.I have metal “cages” around the outside of my lower pads. This case has a very snug fit. Too snug for my sax.

Got this case for my saxophone as I walk and take public transit and the over the shoulder cases hurt my back. This case is light and is perfect for walking around. My saxophone is protected and fits in the case well. I am able to get sheet music into the front pocket, but it is slightly small so music doesn’t lay completely flat. Not a problem for me as my old case didn’t fit music at all.

I love this sax case! A lot of my friends have this case too. My Cannonball Big Bell Series alto sax fits perfectly in there. I’m able to put my music in the zipper pouch. And you can decide if you want to hold to either of the two handles, strap around you or wear it as a backpack. It’s super lightweight compared to my stock wood Cannonball case that came with my horn.

Was worried after reading some reviews that alto sax with cages around the keys won’t fit. I don’t have that issue. I placed my instrument carefully in and it all fits great. Nothing is getting bent or squished. I wish the part that holds the neck joint was a tad smaller as there is wiggle room there. Otherwise it’s fits well and I’m happy with it. I was able to fit my extra reeds and neck strap in the inside compartment. And I put my cleaning cloths on the outside pocket. It’s so lightweight! I mainly got this for the shoulder strap to carry. The old original case was so heavy. The shoulder strap frees up a hand for me to carry my bag with my music folder and purse and water bottle. Highly recommend this case to other Yamaha alto sax owners.

Description: A “hard” expanded styrofoam case with a soft nylon shell. 1 large front pocket. 1 small front pocket. Accessory compartment has a lid with an elastic band “spring”. Mouthpiece and neck compartments beside bell. Zipper closure.Pros: If you don’t want to pay for a proper hard case this is a good option. I would say it’s better than some similar cases. The case looks good, and looks like it will last a while. The handles appear well attached. The metal strap hardware is probably ok, it doesn’t look cheesy (see “Cons”, below....) There is ample room for the left hand pinky cluster. All modern horns should fit. The main compartment is well formed. The mouthpiece and neck compartments are secure and won’t let things fall out. (see “Cons”, below....) Large pocket is big enough for a large music book (see “Cons”, below....) Small pocket will fit a mouthpiece or 3D object (see “Cons”, below....)Cons: Zipper closure. The main handle is divided into right and left sides, with velcro joiner. Velcro closure tab: more to undo, and potential for disaster if it’s not always zipped. No padding besides a little on the lid. It will not hold the body neck cap securely, which means that the horn can bump against the key posts. Otherwise my horn was secure. The mouthpiece and neck compartments are divided by a poorly attached divider. It may not fall out altogether, but the top inch of mine was not attached at all. The metal strap hardware may or may not break. It’s thick enough, but obviously cast, so it could break depending on the casting quality and metal - IDK. Backpack straps are not removable. You can cover them with a flap, but they are still there, and the case does not sit flat on the floor. It seems ok, it’s not wobbly, or wildly off-kilter, but also not flat. It will only fit saxophones that have the bell pads all on the left side. Large pocket will probably not fit large music folders or really thick books (like the “Real Book”) when zipped shut - you would be able to zip it up part way. The front has places for two small pockets, but only one is functional. This worked for selling a horn on a budget. Ok for the price. IMO these “hard” styrofoam cases aren’t strong enough for permanent use. It may last for several years, but they’re basically disposable. They provide limited protection. Much better than a gig bag, but considerably worse than a proper wood case.

Although very similar design to the case that came with my son's Legacy Alto Saxophone, this one is by far superior. The case that came with his sax was starting to fall apart after 5 years of use, and I really liked that this one was very similar in design so I bought it. The quality is much better and more refined, and I suspect this one will last a lot longer than the original. The zippers are very sturdy with large pulls. The main outside pocket perfectly fits the usual size band folder of music. There are rubber feet on both the horizontal bottom of the case as well as the vertical bottom (side) of the case, so no matter how you're stowing it, the case will be protected and up off the ground about an inch. Love the huge handle on the side. The regular horizontal handle with the velcro "combiner" is a little annoying for opening the case, and I might remove it, but the handles themselves are nice being simple rolled nylon with no rubberized coating that's just going to peel off (like the last one did). This case comes with both "hidden" backpack straps as well as a shoulder strap. Both are really nice quality and very wide, making them very usable. The inside of the case is well designed to fit the standard, modern saxophone. I've read that much older models might not fit due to extra valve cages on the left side of the bell, so keep that in mind with your particular instrument. The cutout for the neck and mouthpiece are a perfect fit, protecting both very well. I like that the accessory compartment has a lid! It keeps things in place better (especially smaller things like cork grease), and out of the main compartment. It's very well padded, while also being very light weight. That outer fabric seems very durable.Overall, it's an excellent replacement case that I consider to be a significant upgrade.
