I've bought Proxxon tools before and was pleased with the quality. It's probably not what the manufacturer intended it for, but I actually bought this for lighting my kamado barbecue. It works brilliantly for that. It was easy to fill with gas, lights immediately and generates a perfectly sized flame. The wood wool firelighters are aflame instantly - much easier than other lighting methods that I've used over the years.

I've bought a number of butane microtorches over the years, some real duds and a couple that kind of work, the gas reservoirs are usually too small and ergonomics are often an afterthought. This torch has a tank that holds enough butane for an hour, has decent controls, and gets hot enough for silver soldering. It is small, well-made and works reliably. I have no hesitation recommending this torch.

I had a small torch like this years ago and it was stolen. Took years to finally find this one, works flawlessly! No more trying to hold one button down while trying to push another. No more pissing around filling. I received this torch. Filled it with no problem at all. Turn it on, hit the button, flame! I build small models and fine electronics this thing is worth every penny! Well built, feels great holding it, performs very well. Highly recommended

If you've ever bout a butane torch at a gas station or from a counter display...throw it away and order this. I've used it primarily in my shop for odds and ends. Started a few fires in wet snow conditions, singed some wood for a blackened grain finish, used it to heat up my branding iron I use to sign my art and one other thing that surprised the hell out of me. I own an HVAC company and was able to snake it in behind some equipment and braze a joint. That blew my mind. I'd order another one in a second if this one disappears. I'll be looking at your other products for sure. Especially the long neck grinder. Thank you.

For small scale work as a silversmith, I’ve used many mini torches over the past 8 years. This brand of torch seems to be of consistently good quality and durability. But use highly refined fuel.

Melted a quarter, then a penny, then some random steel scrap, then an old knife. Roasted a couple of marshmallows too. Quality torch. Burns hot. Melts stuff.

I have used MANY other brands of micro torches for fusing fine silver wire up to 12 gauge. They are always a complicated system of pulling down a button, adjusting the gas, and then locking all at once. This becomes tiresome each time just to fuse a series of jump rings or to solder a small element. This is the most simple to operate torch I've ever used. Unlock, open the gas and push a button. Couldn't be easier. No more broken fingernails. You just have to remember to turn off the gas to shut it down. It has substantial constuction. The flame can be adjusted from bushy to a pinpoint with ease. Love this torch! It's a quality product worth every penny.

method of effectively getting butane in was confusing. solid gadget.flame does not stay consistent--it gets smaller as you burn it--but i suspect this is the nature of these microflame burners.
