First thing to note is that this pump is really quite big - note the dimensions they provide are true. Secondly, the included automatic pressure switch only works where you can keep it from freezing, and it must be oriented upright. In my case, I ultimately found I was going to have to explore other options (I ended up using a pressure sensor and waterproof relay, which kept all of the water either far enough below ground or wrapped in heat tape). The hose connector looks plastic in the pictures, but the pump in fact has a proper brass threaded insert pressed into the plastic housing. I'm still experimenting with the pump, but this may work out for a creekside cistern I'm building.

Very nice quality, huge pump. Heavy and durable. Probably the largest one I’ve owned.
