Priced as an upscale item but it's not. Supposed to be new but had some scratches on it. Also, the small piece of metal did not bend to fully adjust to the bottle. I have returned the item. I will not recommend for $28. Maybe for $5.

This is my go-to wine key for home and work use - works well, easy to use, is sturdy, and looks good! At home and at work, I open a lot of wine bottles and have a lot of experience with different wine keys, so I have a basis for comparison. I always keep a close eye on it too because over the years, I find that only my good wine keys go missing!

I was fairly concerned about receiving a cheap counterfeit, as they seem to be all over Amazon. The product arrived in a cardboard box that was branded Pulltex. It was not as nice for a gift as the pictured packaging would be, but I got this for myself. I was happy to find the product appeared genuine. The Pulltex model direct from the company shows the "original" logo to be stamped next to the base hinge, but this one had it near the middle hinge.I've read complaints of counterfeit units having cheaply coated or painted worms. This worm was sharp, and went into corks silently and effortlessly, reinforcing that it's likely genuine. It was so much nicer than any cheap corkscrew. Cork pulled out effortlessly and without breakage.I would recommend this product.

A non-stick coating on a corkscrew, what a concept! It's never been easier to get a screw into a cork before, or get it back out, and I can't believe I haven't had one before now like this. I've used waiter's corkscrews before, and always found them a bit lacking. They didn't get the cork all the way out, or they were annoying to screw in before pulling. Worse, I often struggled to get the cork back off once I'd managed to yank the cork out of the bottle, using more brute-force than leverage. This one has no such problems. It screws in like a breeze, and then in two very quick motions the cork is out. This corkscrew may be a bit on the expensive side, but it's worth it. I think it would make an excellent gift for a wine enthusiast in your life, or buy one for yourself if you open more than a few bottles a year. It looks nice and it works brilliantly, a combination that can't be beat.

This is a great opener. It works better than the Waring electric that I've been using for years. The coated screw goes in very smooth and the mechanism for removal works great. It just feels great in your hand, smooth, sturdy and cool to the touch. Nice product. I'd recommend this without reservation.

The best corkscrew we have ever used. Throw away you electronic models, etc. This corkscrew has the best two stage way of pulling corks. It does not take any amount of expertise. Just plunge the screw mechanism into the cork for a few turns, and then utilize the wonderful second stage to completely and effortlessly remove the cork. It is as easy as that. Delightful. We are so happy with the ease of operation, and simplicity, and no batteries, etc. to maintain. After your second bottle, you will be an expert, and envy to your friends as to your expertise! You will NOT be disappointed!!!

The Teflon coated corkscrew does work well, scrolls easily into a cork's body, appreciably easier than a normal chromed-metal screw. Getting it centered and keeping it in the center of a cork is awkward, a definite tendency to wiggle sideways as do all scrolls of this type. Not the most comfortable tool to hold while attempting to twist downward, the tendency to fold up; the multiple joints and various angles lack the feel of a well defined "handle". Leverage provided by the two bottle-rim anchor points is worthy but requires careful depth threading to align with the bottle's top rim. Overall a well made piece of hardware, not the cheap stamped-steel variety. Is it worth the steep premium price for its main feature: Teflon coated scroll? Answered from another perspective: would I buy it again? No. "The Cork" ritual is a long-standing tradition; but as well documented, corks cause more wine failures than any other sealing device. The simple metal screw-on cap is infinitely better - at sealing and ease of removing. Unfortunately tradition and "popularity" wins out over practical.

This is a great corkscrew but be sure you get the genuine Pulltap's one. It will cost you at least $30+ and is worth every penny and then some. There is another fake that has been offered out of China for $12 or so and while it looks a lot like the original at first glance, it is no substitute. If you look at the photo below you will see the two side by side and it shows the BIG difference. First and most obvious is that the genuine one is machined metal while the counterfeit is thin stamped steel. The real one is marked "original" and Pulltex on the lever and the other is not. The real deal has a solid metal handle rather than sheet metal with a plastic filler. The real one has a well formed teflon coated worm and the other does not. Perhaps most important for durability is that the real one has much heavier swaged pins for the worm and lever assembly pivots and they look like the ones on my much more expensive French handmade opener which has held up for a LOT of bottles. All in all the genuine Pulltaps is a great opener at a good price. Just be sure you don't go cheap and get the one that will fall apart after a few bottles. The cheap ones I bought will go in a picnic cooler or in the kitchen at work where they'll open a few bottles OK but I won't worry too much if they disappear.
