I wasn’t sure if this would fit my old Craftsman air hammer, but it screwed on just like the spring retainer that it came with. That spring retainer was a real pain to use, but this quick-change retainer is a real pleasure. It works with all my 0.401” attachments, and all you need to do to change them is pull back on the collar. This retainer is longer and wider than the spring retainer, so you will lose about .75” of a chisel’s working length, but in most cases this will not be a problem.Do not overtighten the set screws or you will damage the internal threaded section, just snug them down so the retainer will not unscrew itself due to vibration. There are no instructions included with this, but they are probably not necessary as it is simple to use.

seems like a quality piece, but the threads are fine and diameter slightly smaller than my hammer.

Wish I would have found these years ago. So much easier than the spring. Worked as it should.
