I grew up quilling, my mom taught me. It's been decades since I've quilled and to be honest, I haven't used the kit, but it has all that you need. I can't wait to complete it and create a shadow box for my mom.

I am new to quilling so thought a good way to get used to creating would be to get a kit.This does not come with any of the quilling supplies you need to actually make any of these cute characters. To be honest, if you have a steady hand and a good eye the only quilling tool you probably need is a toothpick. However, many of us don't so the kit recommends you get the correct tools - instructions are given for both the needle tool and the slotted tool. It also recommends a circle sizer, curling coach and cork board for offset circles.It does give clear and concise instructions on how to quill and photographs are provided of the shaping techniques once you have rolled your coil. I was surprised at the level of detail gone into on the techniques used in quilling and how to get the best finish on your work.The main kit is worked in 3mm paper - all colours supplied and in a very autumnal palette. Each critter has clear instructions on how to construct them and I would recommend reading them through a couple of times before starting as there is a little bit of paper cutting to do before starting as not all shapes use a full length strip. Although I have not tried making anything from this kit yet the instructions made complete sense to a novice quiller which surprised me.Supplied in a plastic bag with a clip seal top it doesn't really have gift appeal. However the instructions are in a nicely printed brochure that will certainly stand the test of time and can be used long after all the papers in the kit are used up. Vary the thickness of your paper and you could probably make these critters suitable for a hanging or mobile with just a bit of tweaking.I loved the inclusion of the googly eyes in the pack and there are plenty of them too.

As they stated in the product description, the kit contains quilling paper; wiggly eyes and instructions. What they don't specify, is that some other tools are needed in order to be able to create the shapes. These tools needs to be purchased separately. The kit is useless without the additional tools.I would not recommend this product, the info is misleading.

I love this little kit. I am working on painting a background for a woodsy scene and then will add these quilling animals and tree. They could also be used separately, or in groups when creating greeting cards.

I wanted to make a special "from the team" card for someone who was leaving. This project was so pretty!I received many compliments, even a suggestion that I go into business making cards! I printed out a scenic hills-and-stream background for the pieces, which made them stand out even more. was quite useful in securely fastening the pieces to the card. I have only done simple quilling before, and the instructions made this project a breeze. The only "down" side, if it could even be called that, is that I underestimated how much time this would take me, which is no doubt due to my inexperience with quilling. It took me perhaps 6 hours for the entire card. I tend to be slow and methodical in my approach, so your time may be quicker. It was very much worth it, and I am starting another identical card. (Once you buy the kit, you just need to buy additional quilling paper to make another identical project). I highly recommend this project.
