It is exactly one and a quarter inches where the hose goes. was a little small for my application, but I made it work. Upon further testing, I would not recommend for Vortec engines. The 16 pound cap won't hold the output pressure of the water pump. It blows the pressure and coolant out the overflow bypass of the unit.
