I have two Rainbird ESP-ME3 controllers. Both originally equipped with the first generation LNK module. Last year one of the LNK modules failed and I replaced with the LNK2 module without much hassle. I recently needed to replace my modem and EERO gateway router. In doing so I changed the wifi network name/password. Reconnecting the LNK2 on the first controller took several attempts before it connected to the new network. Note I had to limit the Wi-Fi to 2.4 ghz for it to work. The second controller still had the original LNK module. After many frustrating attempts to get it to connect to the new network I gave up and ordered a new LNK2. It took just a few minutes to set up the second controller connection. Some notes:1. The original LNK seems to be a one time setup/use.2. The LNK2 is better but I couldn’t get the Bluetooth to work on either unit. For the older LNK2 it took several attempts over a couple days before it finally recognized the new Wi-Fi network.3. Once working the wifi controllers are great.4. OBTW If you are changing your network, if possible, name it the same and use the same password as the one being replaced. It’ll save tons of time and frustration.

If you have a modern 5Ghz router then it does not work. If you have a mesh router, i.e.- orbi then it does not work. If you have a 20 year old router running only 2.4Ghz band then you might be golden with this.Very poor documentation, no clear procedures for set up or operation. Customer service does answer the phone and tries to help... that said it doesn't seem to be documented anywhere that the stupid little thing only runs on 2.4Ghz networks. Not a good experience trying to get it working for the last 6 months.
