I switch from a pan to this spike and feel that the spike works much better. I twisted it in like a screw so it had more bite to the ground and it hasn't budged eve. With the wind pulling on the chain. Much nicer to look at verses a rusty pan!

I have a few rain chains in front of my home because I don't have gutters so when it rains water pours down splashing it everywhere. I anchored this spike on the rain chain where water falls the most and it has made a big difference. Before anchoring the water coming down splashed water at the entryway, now the water stays to the side towards the garden. Twisting the 12-inch spike into the ground was easy and when done after rainfall ground is soft so no hammering was needed to set the spike in place.
