I was intrigued when I saw this rain drum and thought it would help me to calm myself at night. The drum makes beautiful soft tones as the mallet strikes it. I haven't had a chance to put it outside during a rain storm. I can imagine that it would make beautiful music if the rain was strong enough. I like the storage bag for the drum and small mallet. The drum is easy to hold in the palm of my hand. I does have a little bit of weight, but that is what makes to sounds from the drum so calming.

At about 3 inches across, this is a tiny metal instrument that creates a ringing sound in various tones depending on the length of the cut into the metal or tongue. It takes some practice with the provided mallet to get the tone to sound clear and unmuddled, and some notes never sound all that clear. Nonetheless the sound is soothing and pretty. The metal and enamel are smooth with no rough edges.It is not rainy season where I live, so I cannot rate how it sounds in the rain, but there is a rubber plug in the bottom to take out so that the water flows through and doesn't accumulate and muffle the ringing.There are some suggested songs provided in a booklet and a cloth travel bag to keep everything together. Nice item to add to your garden or home.

The rain drum is very nice with a gorgeous fit and finish. The tones it produces are nice as well but in the rain it is kind of underwhelming I think due to the size. That's not to say it doesn't work, as it definitely does but it seems that in any heavy rain that is enough to play the tones it's kind of just all at once, which again is due to the size. Please do not forget to remove the rubber plug at the bottom or it quickly fills with water and the tones are almost completely muted.

I think that this little rain drum is so cute. It comes in a little canvas carrying bag, with the little mallet. It seems to be a high quality metal, and the coating on it is very nice and even. The sound is crisp and clear, though the notes do not seem to be accurate according to the musically inclined individuals in my life. I know this says it can be used as a rain drum but I don't love the idea of it getting water on the inside and not drying out completely, as there is always the risk of mildew, etc.

This tiny steel-tongue drum does work! It arrives with a fabric carry pouch, a tiny rubber-head mallet - and, of course, the drum itself. It is small; it fits in the palm of the hand. It has six tones to it which are... not too far off? The octave is pretty clearly not aligned, but the lower notes are better.The craftmanship is only okay. Some of the tongues, when stamped, were pressed into the drum in a way that makes it really difficult to hit. Remember, this thing is tiny - you need decent accuracy and manual dexterity to hit the tiny tongues with the tiny mallet. Reaching in from the inside, I was able to bend/press the metal tongue back out to flush with the face of the drum, which made it work much better.The included "songbook" isn't particularly useful; it includes a handful of melodies with no meter, some using notes not provided on the drum. That aside, the sound is surprisingly good for something small and inexpensive, and the scale works well enough that a beginner puttering around is likely to create something that sounds pretty good!I didn't have rain, but I did have a shower to try the "sounds neat under water" claim. Meh? It makes noise if water hits it directly, but I found that tricky to arrange. Under the barrage of a shower, it's an equally barrage of quiet tones, which isn't particularly compelling.This is a portable toy and a fun exposure to what larger steel tongue drums can do. As long as that's what you're looking for, this might be for you - but honestly, a proper steel tongue drum would give you more flexibility.

Love the sound. Fits in your hand perfectly. Comes with a small rubber tipped drum stick and drawstring carry bag. Sound is awesome. Has a nice sustain as well. I took a picture with a quarter on the drum for size reference. The second pic is the bootom with the rubber plug, which also helps keep the drum in place. The box it comes in has a fold out booklet with a few songs that can be played. The songs have nimbers which match the numbers on the tongues of the drum. There are some arcs and underlines on some of the numbers in the songs though no explanation of what they mean. Clearly, I am not familiar with the notation. I will certainly look it up!The sound is nice and clear and is so pleasant. You can't really use your fingers to play this like a larger tongue drum, you really need to use the included stick. Or something similar. I think it's just too small to use fingers. Just something to note if you have used a larger one previously.I definitely recommend this!

I have a much larger tongue drum that enthralls my granddaughter, so when I saw this CAWWRT 3 Inch Rain Drum for Outside/Steel Tongue Drum, I knew she'd love it. I wasn't wrong. She took to it immediately, and rarely puts it down!Coated with a lovely teal (Malachite) finish with a small rubber disc at the bottom that I wasn't sure would hold it steady on a flat surface, but it does. This teensy tongue drum comes with a small wooden rubber-ended mallet & a songbook, and arrives encased in a colorful drawstring storage bag. The soothing tones it makes when we play it are lively and very pleasing to the ear.Initially, I was a bit confused by it being described as a rain drum for outside, but after doing some research, I've found that they're actually a thing. I really love the idea, but I'm not terribly comfortable using it for this purpose. My granddaughter would be super bummed if it rusted. However, I may actually purchase a few more to put in the garden when the spring rains arrives. Definitely recommend!
