We had a project for a friend who had a colored appliance with a RAL code so got this to help us find other colors. Just a handy reference thing to have.

An affordable verification tool for small color reading spectrophotometers. These instruments will read the color and try to equate it to colors in their database, which includes RAL numbers. You can also find the RGB values for the RAL colors and compare to the spectrophotometer output. I used these cards to verify the Datacolor ColorReader EZ and the Color Muse instruments.

The colors are vivid, but there is a lack of shades and tints to those colors. Almost looks like a grade school "identify the colors" booklet. Not much help, had to go to my favorite paint stores to find a greater verity of color subtleties. It's OK for basic color selections, if that's all you are looking for.

Great product and value. Very easy to find the name of the color. There are lists in different languages, starting with English. On the cards with colors, on the left, is a number that identifies the color. Find the list with your language, find the number and presto, you have the name. If you know German is even easier because the name is on the color card on the right. If you don't know German, look only at the number on the left and your language list. Simple!

I bought these for my sales team to show color finishes that we offer. The product is great - durable and compact and hold up well taking the abuses of traveling. RAL codes are universal (that's the point, right?), but just be aware that the color descriptions are not necessarily in English (mine were in German). As long as someone can communicate that they want RAL 7035, instead of Light Grey (or hellgrau), you'll have no issues.
