I am please again for another set of Rancho shocks. They are to me the best shock for any 4 wheel drive truck. I have always used Rancho shocks on all of my truck and have been totally safisfied with them. I would recommend Rancho shocks to any one. and you will be totally satified with them.

Just installed these on the rear of my '97 F-150 last night. Installation was a breeze and my initial test drive was smooth..I only noticed one issue: with a normal shock absorber, you have two cylinders which bolt to the vehicle's frame at either end of the shock. When the weight of the truck comes crashing down, the absorber (located in the lower cylinder) compresses and the larger diameter upper cylinder slides down the piston and slides over the smaller diameter lower cylinder. In this way, the upper cylinder acts as a protective sleeve which discourages water and dirt from contaminating the piston and would otherwise shorten the shock's life. This shock absorber has no upper cylinder. The piston just slides out of the one cylinder, and the absorber comes with a red rubber sleeve that fits over the piston to keep it clean. My concern is with that rubber sleeve: (A) There is no way to keep it from slipping off the top part of the piston, other than the washer which the top of the sleeve slips over, and (B) I'm worried about the integrity of the sleeve over the next several years. Will the sleeve slip off, leaving the piston exposed to dirt and water, or will the rubber succumb to the elements, with the same effect? Only time will tell.A minor installation tip: to decompress the absorber when it comes out of the box, grasp the main cylinder and the washer at the base of the spindle on top. Twist and pull to lengthen the absorber to the proper length for installation. Maybe it's just me, but it took me a minute or two of finagling with the thing before I figured it out.
