When I was young, before the days of GPS, we used Rand McNally maps all the time. They were easy to read and showed a lot of detail. Now, there is very little detail other than the roads and major points of interest. We drove by many lakes and rivers, not on the map. One we wanted to go back to and take photos of. Could figure out where on the road it was. Had to eventually resort to Google Maps in satellite view to find it. Later saw a AAA map of the same area. It was on it.
