I was having problems with my mercury 3.5, made by tohatsu. I tried cleaning out the old carb first, choking and spitting. I put this on in about 3 minutes and started right up. adjust the idle and you're done. Ordered a spare, with the garbage gas they are selling at the pumps you know its going to happen again. For the price of this carb I will just toss the old and get back to the water which is a lot more fun.

Runs perfect on my mercury 4. Setting idle was simple using the air idle screw and throttle screw.

Missing internal parts, float had a hole in it. Definitely will not buy again.

The new carb. did not help the running to idle as needed. The problem before was like the ran at high speed and would not idle . I have to run half choke just to tune it down to a norm just to shift into forward.I suspect there is another problem where it is getting to much fuel

If this fits your motor I'd recommend buying it before trying to clean your existing one. Way easier and guarenteed to work.

I was having issues for several seasons with my Mercury 3.5HP not idling when cold, and shutting down when suddenly accelerating. This made the outboard virtually unusable for the wife and kids. I cleaned the carburetor thoroughly every season with limited success. Although all symptoms pointed to the carburetor, I pretty much gave up and started thinking the issue was somewhere else, bought tools to check compression and ignition, but came up empty. I even had to rent an outboard last season as mine was so unreliable. Skeptical and at my wits ends, I figured I might as well try this carburetor (which is by the way cheaper than a can of carb cleaner). Took me about 10 minutes to install and dial in for mixture and idle. DONE! A couple of pulls and my outboard started right up and idles easily at low RPMs and accelerates perfectly. Wish I would have bought this a long time ago! I may just buy another one and put it in my spare parts kit...

Idle can’t go below probably 800 rpm on my Nissan 5 hp 4 stroke outboard. Other than that I can’t complain
