I was disappointed in the quality. The plastic slide lock to keep them closed was flimsy plastic and very hard to operate. It will break in no time which will then leave the blade exposed and easy to get injured. The blade appeared to be low quality and almost dull to the touch. They are being returned.

Lock is a bit tight, but workable. easy to handle and cuts clean. Little cleaner attachment is not secure. Best keep them in the garden shed. I lost my at the first cutting.

These pruners are excellent! They took a few minutes to get use to but now I love the ratcheting action that does the strength in cutting through the toughest branches! Great design easy to use, great quality

Terrific product for small branch pruning. The ratchet feature allows you to cut branches cleanly of up to 1 inch or more in diameter with ease. Much, much better than pruning shears without the ratchet feature. I have had mine for several years and it still works perfectly. Highly recommended.

I own a container full of hand pruners that don't work all that well. I have weak hands from arthritis and being elderly, but I love to prune. These pruners are amazing and work well with weak hands (I am female), and they look to last a long time.. They even include little pad things to keep the blade oiled and clean. I gave them a workout yesterday and I was able to prune for over an hour. The amazing part is they made pruning fun rather than painful. Cut quickly and easily with branches up to a 1/2 inch. The rachet works smoothly and powerful. The really amazing part is my hands were not in pain at all afterward. Usually, I pay with sore, stiff hands for at least a day after doing pruning. for pruning that long. I would definitely recommend it.. I am fearful these will disappear from Amazon, so I am ordering a second pair today to put aside in case I lose the first pair. I am definitely a happy gardener again. Can't say enough good things. If you are hesitating over price, don't worry. I have several hand prunders that din't even last a season and were difficult for me to use. Last year I bought 2 different pairs of pruners and the combined prices far exceeded of the two far exceeded the price of these. Those other two are on their way to Salvation Army. The only drawback is they are a bit difficult to lock & unlock, but with use that seems to be getting to be less of an issue.to lock but the more I lock and unlock & get the hang of how the locking mechanism works, the easier it gets. Enjoy!!!

A very satisfying purchase! If you give these shears as a gift, you must convince the recipient to look at the website and understand how the shears work. And you should know that they need to be broken in, they are very stiff at first. However, they are a much smoother, less demanding action for the person with some hand issues. I used them first and the action softened up very quickly and they got easier to lock with use. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They are the best pruners that I have found, and not a bad price. I will buy another pair so we each have our own. Very worthwhile and allowed my life partner to carry on his pruning and clipping more freely and with less ache. I would give these 6 stars if I could!

Having some tendonitis or arthritis, I needed a way to clip fruit tree prunings to fit into our recycle bin. After clipping the smaller branches of a tree or two, my hand would hurt for a couple of weeks. My venerable Corona clippers have always been super and my sweetheart uses hers always. But I thought I would try something easier. Fiskars, with its two-handed branch loppers, are super! But their hand cutters, with their interesting twisty grip for leverage, wasn't enough (though a bit easier than my Coronas). So I tried this Valspring clipper. WOW! I have only tried some test branches, as the pruning season has passed, but here is my opinion. They are very, very good. A single cut, where the branch goes between the blades and gets sliced, is just like the others. However, if the branch resists cutting (like my somewhat weathered kindling branches I experimented with just now), then you can ease off on the handles then take a second pass. Easing off engages a gear-driven mechanism that works really well to easily slice through the wood. My sweetheart even tried them and commented how easy it was to cut through the branch.Time will tell how they work making the hundreds of cuts to clip the branches next season to fit into our recycle bins. If the wood is green and easily cut, these may be just like the Coronas. But knowing that when the branch resists, I can easily shift gears (so to speak) and slice through the branch like butter, is a good thing. My open question is whether or not my hand tendons will put up with the possibly multi-squeezes necessary to cut through the harder woods. My guess is that they will. Even with two passes, if the passes are easy, it is a no-sweat deal for my hands. For easy stuff, I can use them like my Coronas or maybe even just use these with single cuts. In any case, I whole-heartedly recommend these cutters to those folks, like me, who need some assistance with cutting as their hands age.
