My daughter picked this baseball helmet out for my grandson. I was concerned about the fit, but out seems to fit pretty good. He loves it. This is his practice helmet. His game day one is black, but he really wanted red. This was a good compromise all-in-all.The Rawlings MACH FIT Baseball Batting Helmet, features the Multi-Directional Flex, Fits 6 3/8" - 7 5/8", available Multiple Colors.A great looking helmet, serves a wonderful functional and great value for the money. I ordered this helmet because our old one had sponges that were falling apart. The sponges were unprotected, with only a thin layer of fabric barely hanging on. Additionally, my son has become an ambidextrous hitter, but the previous helmet only provided protection on one side, so we needed to buy a new one anyway even if we decided to endure the sponges falling apart.This new helmet is fantastic! The comfort it provides is incredible. The design allows it to flex, making it easy to put on, it's pretty genius and very functional, the other helmets you kind of have to fight your head in; like applying outward pressure where the ear are protected to put them on your head. Once it's on, it fits securely and offers just the right amount of tension. The padding inside is super comfortable. Although I hope we never have to test its performance in action, it’s clear that this helmet can absorb impact well, and you would hardly feel it. It’s almost like having a memory foam pillow protecting your head. Plus, it’s lightweight too. Rawlings really knows their stuff!

Awesome helmet; I'm impressed with everything about it, especially given the amount of internal padding. The helmet, along with the copious amount of padding, protects the entire head, from the entire forehead to the cerebellum, down to and around the upper jaw. I wear a 7-1/4 hat size and find the Rawlings Batting Helmet to fit comfortably and snuggly, even while sprinting to base. The helmet design also allows for incorporates a decent amount of ventilation.I play in a regional league of the Senior Softball National League, for men over 50. It’s a slow pitch league, so I’m obviously not worried about getting hit in the head at the plate. However, I’ve had a couple of close calls recently with balls thrown to first, and there are players in the league that are throwing at easily 60 mph. Since softballs are anything but soft, there’s no need to get into describing the type of damage that can be caused by getting hit in the head by one traveling at or near that speed, or even half of that. Suffice it say, it’s better to prevent it. To that end, I now feel much safer while wearing the Rawling Batting helmet.The ”Mach Fit” is accomplished by incorporating a “button” that’s attached to the front half of the helmet that slides in a rubber channel held by the back half of the helmet. This allows the helmet to be pulled opened when it’s slipped over the head, then closed to the proper fit. I’ve found it to work very well for my head. My impression is that this helmet is meant for an adult or post-pubescent player. Although a younger player may have a head size that falls within Rawlings specified range of fit, their face and bone structure may not have filled out for the fitment required around the cheeks and jaw; this fits differently than a baseball cap.The helmet’s exquisite finish is enhanced by the three-dimensional rubberized Rawling logo in the front. This is certainly the most well-padded and solid batting helmet I’ve come across. At first sight I thought that the padding might be attached with Velcro, making it adjustable, but it’s all permanently fastened with adhesive. No instructions were included anyway, which is to imply, “it is what it is,” try it on and see if it works for you. I did, and it does. All good. Rawlings, of course, is a well-regarded name in the sports equipment industry, so I wouldn’t expect anything less.

This helmet’s multi-directional flex shell molds to my kid’s head just right—snug, not suffocating—and she says it stays put even on slides. The inner foam shrugs off stray pitches, holding strong after a few games. The moisture-wicking liner keeps sweat out of her eyes during hot practices, though it’s slow to dry. Matte finish hides grime well and looks clean. It’s face-guard-ready for future upgrades and adjustable enough to stick around for a couple of seasons. For the price, it’s a no-nonsense pick for comfort and safety.The only gripe: it shipped in a flimsy nylon bag, leaving small paint chips all over. Not a dealbreaker, but sloppy for a big-name brand.

I received this item from Amazon Vine.I have 2 boys that play baseball, with varying head sizes. I wanted this helmet for my youngest, who currently has a helmet that is 7 1/4 - 7/38. This helmet would be at the top end of that spectrum. He found the helmet very uncomfortable in the back, which is where the helmet expands to fit a larger size head. My older son has a current helmet that is 6 3/8 - 7 1/8. He found the helmet a little loose, though he liked the fact he could wear his Powerbeats headphones easier now as the helmet is not as snug. I like the idea of an expandable helmet so it would keep the cost of manufacturing down if you have to produce less sizes, but maybe if they used clips instead of bands to allow for expansion, it would allow for a snugger helmet to suit today’s ballplayers.As far as visuals and other aspects of the helmet: The matte blue color is very appealing. On the inside, however we noticed a lot of adhesive overspray on the inside of the helmet for where the pads attach and for sure will attract dirt/dust during play. We had hoped this helmet would be a stand out but it seems to try to be too much for everyone.
