I was able to installed the new wire, perfect fit. I did struggle a little bit with the cable head on the pedal bracket but ended up bending the metal a little bit to make it easier and also took the pedal bracket out to work more comfortable. I also had to stretch the wire under the truck to connect both ends together. It took me like 30 min to put it all back together! This new emergency parking wire was installed on a Ford Ranger XL standard cab 2005!

After taking a hour to install the cable is 1.5 inches too short to fit in the connector for the rear cable.

Fit for 2005 Ford Ranger, regular cab (possibly others, but that's what I've got). The vehicle's parking brake cable is multiple sections; this connects the foot lever, through the floorboard, to the cable under the truck. This cable seems to be very good quality and I am happy with it. Removing and installing this was difficult, however clearly that is Ford's issue, not this part manufacturer. Some internet message boards suggest the entire parking brake assembly needs to be replaced however this is not true. Since I never did it before, I removed the entire assembly, locked the pedal in place with a screwdriver (there is slot for this), and "walked" the gears with two screwdrivers to move the cable's terminal end into place so I could remove it from it's seat and install the new one. I don't know if removing the entire assembly was necessary, but I went that route because I didn't know how it all fit together . If I ever had to do it again (doubt it... quality replacement cable), I'd try to do it w/o removing the assembly since I now know how it works. I'm no pro but I did it, so it's possible if you have enough skills to perform minor vehicle repairs.

I hqve been using this part for two years with no issues. I have a stick shift and park on a steep hill every day at my house and it still holds like the day I installed it. No complaints.
