I enjoy using this food probe when cooking out with my family. Especially when cooking chicken and pork I like to know that they are at the correct temperature while they are still juicy and not rely just on a visual inspection. Also, I like my steak done to a medium rare so knowing that it is at a safe temperature while still appealing to my taste is important. This temperature probe is easy to use and comes with a handy chart showing safe cooking temperatures for different types of meats.

I like that this device has dual temperature reading functions. The infrared laser is great for measuring temperatures of any surface, from a skillet to say, an electric heater. The laser will not tell you the internal temperature of food, except maybe soups. The food probe is good for cooking meats and determining the internal temperature. Helps me be more accurate than using my old dial meat thermometer, although they both read very similar to each other. Display is large, bright, and easy to read. As some have said the probe is virtually impossible to get out of the snapped in position with fingers alone, but once I got it out I didn't find it necessary to snap it back in, I just folded the probe back into closed position. Will shut off automatically after like 20-30 minutes (too long IMHO) but an off button would have been nice. I just remove the batteries. A nice addition to my kitchen accessories.

I have an instant read probe but was missing the Infrared that I like to use to gauge pan or grill surface temperature. This is a great tool that does both functions.Positives: 👍1. This thing is my favorite new tool. It lets me check my meat temp, veggies (yes you can overcook veggies easily) and even the temp of my wife's foot bath and more. We use it around the house right now daily. Im so grateful for this wonderful Laser guided device!!WARNING: DO NOT POINT THIS AT ANYONE!. The laser is actually warm when it hits a body, one can only imagine that this would destroy an eye. It is NOT A TOY FOR KIDS TO USE AT ALL, EVER. Be careful where you leave this, every kid will want to play with this because its so cool, but the end result would be bad.

This is a pretty handy device. It requires 2AAA batteries for operation. The screen is easy to read and very simple operation. I tested on some burgers and it worked as expected. There are two buttons on a trigger for temperature with the other to cycle thru the settings. The hold function is used for the needle injector which is easily folded in the handle. It's fairly light weight and fits in the hand. The unit turns off automatically after 20 mins. I wish it just had an on and off switch.
