Installation is difficult, even if it uses only two bolts. Hard to hold up so bolts can be inserted.

Pretty easy install, no drilling on my 2012 Tundra. Pulls out easily and makes it easy to get into the pickup bed.

I installed this the AMP Research BedStep on my 2007 Toyota Tundra Crewmax Limited 4X4 truck. The truck has 33 inch tires and a leveling kit so the truck and specifically the bed are a bit taller than stock. I would either jump up backwards so that I ended up sitting on the tailgate of the truck or use a step ladder so I could easily step into the bed of the truck. Both ways were a hassle! I saw a video with where this BedStep was installed on the a truck and I saw how easy it is to pop it down with your foot and how easy it is to step into the bed of the truck and, when you're finished, you just nudge it back and the spring loaded BedStep just folds out of the way. I decided this was an essential add-on for my truckInstallation took about 20 min. You can do this with just a ratchet set, a torque wrench and possibly a breaker bar if the two bolt you need to remove from under the truck give you trouble. Fortunately, I have a 90 degree impact wrench so it really made things easy. The most difficult part was torquing down one of the bolts because the mounting bracket for the BedStep is somewhat in the way but with the correct extension, it can be done.IMO, all trucks should come from the factory with the BedStep. The ease of getting in and out of the bed of the truck makes the BedStep worth every penny!

Made decent but bolts are real difficult to get back in since you are blind by the mount its self. I would recommend having a power ratchet. Would be much easier since there is zero room to do anything with the bracket holding while trying to put bolts back in. Flips up and down nice but I wish it was a little sturdier. Also think it would be better to be about 2 to 3 inches higher in the down position. Overall though I would still recommend as a good product.

I had to replace the AMP bed step that I bought ten years ago when it was damaged in an accident. If not for being destroyed by another car it would have kept going strong forever. This one is nearly identical though they have ditched the original alloy step for a resin step. I like the alloy step better, it felt higher quality, but the resin step works fine. In general the entire product is high quality and is easy to install. I use it all the time!

I have the stock lift and tires on my Tundra, and I wish the step (when extended) was just a bit higher off the ground/closer to the bumper, i.e. so it would be a more equal distance from ground to step, then from step to tail gate. But it is close enough and I can live with it given quality and convenience provided by this product. If you have a lift on your truck, the height would be about right and AMP probably engineered it that way to split the difference. As far as the product, I highly recommend it. Time will tell the over-all durability, but the concept, engineering and design are fabulous, so far, I could not be more satisfied. It is one of the most practical accessories you could ever add to your truck.

This bed step is an outstanding product. Ordered it from Amazon in lieu of the Toyota bed step for my 2012 Tundra. The Toyota step costs about $60 more. I noticed that the product description on Amazon and the AMP website sounded almost exactly the same as the one in the 2012 Tundra Genuine Toyota Accessories book at the dealership. The part also looks the same as the pictures of the "genuine Toyota" part, and the AMP site says they provide OEM parts to Toyoya, so this is probably the very same bed step. Install was easy, took about a half hour, did it myself. Just be sure you have the required tools listed on the instruction sheet. You will definitely need a torque wrench, 90 ft. lbs. for the frame mount and six ft. lbs. for the step. Instructions were excellent. Oh, the factory bolts in the frame are reused to mount the step. You will only need one wrench for these bolts as the nuts that the bolts screw into are welded to the frame and will not turn. Good luck, enjoy your new step!
