I do all my own car maintenance and am mechanically inclined but had never heard of 'jounce bumpers.'When I checked my 22 year old car to see what condition they were in I found they'd detriorated to basically nothing. The only thing remaining of the ones that came with the car when it was new was about a half inch where it pops into a recess at the top of the spring. Now I'm not convinced these are particularly vital since I must have been driving without any for at least a decade and didn't notice. But then again for around $35 why not replace them since I'll be keeping this car until they bury me with it.Replacement required jacking up the car in the rear to stretch out the spring. Then I had to clean out what remained of the old ones. This was actually the hardest part as it's not an easy spot to reach. After that you can maneuver these into place and wiggle them into the recess so they stay put.I probably spent about an hour for both sides working slowly.I couldn't tell any difference in the car of course since these apparently only come into play when driving over big bumps.

This is a perfect replacement bumper stop for my 2004 Chevy Venture van. It takes a lot of work to replace since you have to drop the axle and springs off but it's not impossible. Made of polyurethane foam. My originals are a hard rubber and after 20 years they need new ones. Perfect fit.
