First of all I'm quite shocked to how good it sounds. I already had an equalizer installed, an American bass AB 7BV, and that one sounds really well too. But for some reason the bass quality on the recoil is just better. The recoil does have a 18 dB octave crossover for the sub, where the American bass has a 12 DB. As far as the issues, product paid states that it comes with Tiffany's style RCAs, it does not. These are standard RCAs that mount directly to the board. It doesn't make them bad, but if you take your equipment out often, you're eventually going to break the RCA off the board. The mounting holes for the equalizer are not threaded, they are just holes in sheet metal and they give you course thread screws to hold it in place. With all the vibrations in the vehicle, it does not hold the equalizer in place. I ended up taking the top plate out, and putting threads in the existing hole, getting some fine thread machine screws, and now it stays in place. But other than those three issues, it definitely sounds really good, and I'm more of an SQ guy than an SPL guy. And I did have to retune everything after installing this, the pre-out voltage is not 7 volts, the American bass is supposed to have seven volt output, and after installing the recoil EQ, the gains needed to go up just to touch because the preamp voltage was lower.

This is not just an EQ, but also a line driver. If you purchased an inexpensive Android or similar car stereo and found that it only has a single set of RCA low voltage pre outs, this device can help. It can turn that single set of outputs, into 3 sets of outputs at a higher voltage for front, rear and subwoofer. You can use the knobs to dial in the levels and then fine tune the EQ to your liking. It is a real game changer for that scenario, at a very reasonable price.
