This is an awesome item for the windows of my promaster van. It helps to keep the van cooler in summer and heat in the winter. Cut to fit. Good purchase.

This is a thin sheet of bubble insulation with air between the sheets of foil. As long as this is the type you're expecting it's great! The version with a foam core between the layers (instead of just air in this case) insulates better, but this is light and easier to cut to size. It's also very light if you need it in a window.

I use this type of product in various projects around the farm. The last one that I did, was I lined the inside of a cold frame with it, stapling it in place. I also used it around the house and in the chicken coop to keep heat out at times and keep heat in at other times. This product is of a "good" construction. Not "great" construction. It is thinner than other products of this type that I have used before. The insulation layer is not very thick. Now I'm not an expert on this type of product; but some of the value comes from the foil facings, and some comes from the insulation layer that is sandwiched in between - I can't really say how thick that insulation needs to be.I was pleased that the seller made it clear that it would be folded, not rolled. I've been burned by that in the past and really appreciated knowing that. When it's folded, it won't look as good in your project because the "fold lines" will show. In many applications, how it looks is not critical. In others, I like to get it in a roll because it looks so nice. This is a tricky one for me to rate - I'm going with 4 stars simply because I have seen better foil insulation of this type, but there is certainly nothing wrong with this.I'm not sure how much my pictures will help, but I included them for completness.

Review of ”Reflectix Insulation Roll, Reflective Foil Insulation, Double Side Aluminum Foil Bubble Shield...":(Please refer to my reviewing guidelines at the bottom of the page). We live on our 52' Trawler 100% of the time and anchor out and travel 99.99% of the time. We have 6 marine air conditioner/heat pumps on board (1 for each stateroom, 1 for pilothouse, 2 for the galley/saloon) but we never use them due to the amount of energy that they consume. Instead we've painted the top of our canvas white with elastomeric paint to reflect the sun and also spend a lot of time in the water cooling off in the summer, and we use diesel heaters for heat in the winter. This type of insulation is far better for reflecting solar heat than it is for insulating radiant heat (or cold) but we wanted to try it for covering our 17 individual lower level portlights to help the boat stay warmer by not loosing so much heat in the winter. The insulation is pretty much identical to other 3mm thick bubble wrap coated with aluminum types of insulation on the market. It's very easy to cut with a scissors that you use for cutting thicker materials like kitchen or gardening shears/scissors. I would suggest you not use your office or sewing scissors for this because it will most certainly help dull them. I've measured the dimensions of the piece of insulation that arrived before cutting it up and it was 23-3/4" wide x 10' long. One of the ad photos says that it's 3mm thick but it actually measures 2mm thick.I've done a bit of market research on Amazon for this specific type of product and find that the $9 sale price is competitive for the market in either the 2mm or 3mm thickness. I've assigned this 4 stars because it is an average quality but at a good competitive price for the market. I would've assigned 5 stars if it were indeed 3mm or if the ad did not misstate the thickness. My responsibility as an Amazon Vine Reviewer:Considering the Amazon rules/regulations for being a Vine Member It is obvious that it is very important to Amazon that the person doing the review has indeed inspected, tested, used the product as well as being aware of the competitive situation of the market segment. This is so it can be fairly compared and reviewed whether good, bad, average, or anywhere in all of the grey area between. One thing that I wish were better defined by Amazon is exactly what each star should represent from 1 to 5 so that every Vine member would use the same guide in that regard. So, to let you know the guide that I use, I include it as follows:I always start off considering that average is 3 stars, and an average rating to me is: The product was correctly represented in the ad. The manufacturing quality is as expected. The product performed as intended. The product operating/user guide if needed is helpful. The product is priced accordingly. Then after inspection, measuring, testing, using, wearing, or whatever is required I add or subtract from the average as follows: Subject to additional stars: Additional product features not expected that are useful. Manufacturing quality/performance above what was stated or expected. Included guides and/or useful information that is beyond the norm. Product pricing highly competitive for a superior product. Subject to fewer stars: The product was misrepresented in the ad. Manufacturing quality/performance below what was stated or expected. No useful guide or understandable user information when required. Product pricing is on the high side considering quality, features, or the market.all the best,dr
